I stopped watching B-Ball when it when hip hop. Give me that old time Lakers Show Time, or classic Boston/Lakers match ups with Kevin bouncing off of Clark Kent....who got his eyes fixed and no longer has the look.

Sam Barry invents the triple post, passing it on to his players.

One of his players, Bill Sharman, goes on to coach the Lakers to 69 wins (then the record for wins in a season), the pro sports record for consecutive games the, and the first NBA title in LA.

Another, Alex Hannum, went to Philadelphia and managed to win an NBA title away from Bill Russell.

Another of them, Tex Winter, goes on to refine the offense into the triangle, helping implement it in Chicago for six titles, in one year breaking the LA record for wins in a season by three, before then taking it to LA where it won three more titles and counting.

It's really hard to say if USC or UCLA had the bigger influence on the game.

The thing is we know that they're going to put Kirilenko on him all game, and I don't think Kobe can post him up. We need to post up the guy that switches off of Kobe so that Kirilenko can do that.

the first big games dad let me stay up late to watch was the 70 willis reed lakers-knicks series and then when the lakers got revenge in 72 I was hooked for life.

That's part of why the Blazers lost to the Lakers in 2000: Dunleavy couldn't have his guys the ball into him every time, despite that the Lakers had no power forward who could stop him, because Sheed never wants to be The Man, and isn't comfortable in that role.

That's also why he's done well in Detroit: he came in as a roleplayer, a part of the team. Ben Wallace was there at the time to be the big man, and of course Billups was the Finals MVP and team leader. Sheed just gets to do his thing with no pressure.

We'll see if he can produce under pressure.

Cavs-Celtics are going to game 7, and the Pistons have more to fear from Lebron than the paper tiger of the Big 3, or as I read today on ESPN, the Big 2 and Ray Allen. No Shaq to deal with, although that might be neutralized by a better, more ruthless Kobe. But Gasol hasn't been all that effective this series and if he has a series like this one against NO in the conference finals, you all won't see the Finals this year. If LA wins it all, Kobe is officially best player since MJ.
