OR 5 Open Seat (D)

Ending weeks of speculation, Republican Kevin Mannix made it official Thursday: He will run for Congress.

Mannix, 58, began a political fan dance shortly after U.S. Rep. Darlene Hooley, a Democrat, announced Feb. 7 that she would not run for re-election.

Mannix faces Lake Oswego businessman Mike Erickson on May 20 in the Republican primary in the 5th Congressional District. Erickson lost to Hooley in 2006.

NY 25 Open Seat Walsh (R)

You can take Syracuse Mayor Matt Driscoll's name off the list of potential candidates for the congressional seat to be vacated by retiring Congressman Jim Walsh.

Right now, Dan Maffei is the only announced Democratic candidate, with Randy Wolken and Peter Capucilli running on the GOP side.

Strong Candidates by Whitehorse

are good to have for House & Senate races. Every dollar a dem must spend on a house race is a dollar that's not going to the presidential race, & vice-versa.
