We're Happier Than the Libs!!!!!

Conservatives are happier than Liberals!! That's the result of a study funded by the National Science Foundation!
Regardless of marital status, income or church attendance, right-wing individuals reported greater life satisfaction and well-being...
It's nice to have scientific proof of why Conservatives generally smile more than libs. Another argument in favor of conservatism!!! Oh happy happy joy joy!!!!
What they're saying is that we can look at an inequity and understand why it may exist and how to cope with it.
For example:
If you're not paid as much as your boss, you go out, get an education and get promoted. That's the conservative take on life.
The lib, on the other hand, would whine about the inequity, form a commission to study the inequity, write legislation to form a new agency to regulate the boss/employee wage disparity and raise taxes to fund it!
Understanding how the world really works contributes to happiness!

conservatives. When they say that ones economic situation "supposedly" depends on hard work and success.
But whatever, I agree with you on the difference between the two.

too, and then I read it again. The second time through, it didn't sit well. In fact, it just seemed like a big old smackdown in some ways.

On Ace's web page 'Ace of Spades HQ' he wrote:
Meanwhile, of course, we have no psychological studies delving into the quite-interesting riddle of why liberals claim to care so much about the poor but donate so much less money and volunteer so much less time to charitable causes. I'm curious as to what "rationalizations" liberals have to justify such behavior.
Ace, no study required, it's because they think it's the Government's job, not theirs!
I went off to read Ace's report and...bam that was the exact thing that came to my mind. Liberals would think it is government's job to care for the poor...but I don't think I could find a paragraph on that in the constitution.

I do, however, think that it must have been one of those penumbras and/or emanations.

The irony of this post versus the content of article made me smile.. ;)
The fact that a [conservative] is happier than a [liberal] is no more to the point than a drunken man is happier than a sober one. - Stolen and modified from George Bernard Shaw
I don't know about any other Liberals, but I'm happy. Maybe that is because I just finished with three finals and don't have another one until next week, or maybe because Tim Russert said yesterday that Obama's gonna win the nomination.
generally believe they control their own lives. They believe success comes from working hard and doing things right. The left generally thinks your surroundings dictate outcomes. Where you live, your race, your gender, etc. It should not be surprising that people who feel they control their lives and their destiny are happier.
It's also something that data has shown for a long time.
Finally, it's a correlation which doesn't mean causation. It could be that happier people are conservative not the other way around.

shouldn't be happy about the inequality in America which Democrats are very unhappy about. It comes across as saying Republicans are happier because they don't care about equality in America, we just rationalize it away "It is not really that big a problem if some people have more of a chance in life than others," and "This country would be better off if we worried less about how equal people are."
