VP Madness: Elite Eight

The third round of VP madness is open: http://innovation.cq.com/vpmadness

My picks:

1. Huckabee vs. Sanford: Sanford. A true southern rumble. I genuinely like Huck; he’s a superb speaker. But I think Sanford is betting on fiscal issues and won’t alienate the Mormons.
2. Pawlenty vs. Hutchison: Pawlenty. Home state bias. Hutchison really shouldn’t have gotten this far. She won't appeal to indies, is pro-abortion and TX is in the bag. Chris Cox and Donald Carcieri should have been included in this competition—at least over Jeb Bush and Chuck Hagel.
3. Palin vs. Jindal: Palin. The battle for the GOP’s future.
4. Crist vs. Portman: Portman. With Snobama, FL should be in the bag. Portman could help out in OH. Though I don’t think even Ohioans know who Portman is. Also, being a former Bush Administration official should disqualify him, but Crist has too many problems.

...from the outset, the brackets stunk. They had desirables running up against desirables, and undesirables against undesirables.

This round is a little better, but from the off it was a shame how the brackets were drawn up.

As far as Jindal v. Palin goes....I'd rather think of that as a 2016 to 2032 two-term/two-term dream team :-)

He's only just begun his term as governor, and I don't know that I'd trust anyone else to push his reforms through in his absence.

JINDAL IS NOT INTERESTED IN THE VP SPOT. HE WILL NOT BE PICKED.

Jindal very well could be the future of the conservative movement and the GOP, but now is not his time.

“.....women and minorities hardest hit”

I support that by kowalski

It has been obvious from the beginning that Bobby Jindal does *not* want the VP nomination in this election cycle and that he is very *happy* and *capable* in his role in Louisiana and that he intends to stay there and do the work he was elected to do. And that everyone with half a brain thinks he's the uniquely qualified to do.

So let's not get mean, let's just stop the shenanigans now and have a rule against it for the future. It isn't going to happen, Jindal doesn't want it to happen, and most of us will be very happy if it doesn't happen. I know I will be. Jindal is doing the best work he could do right no in Louisiana. We need to support him *there* instead of distracting people with baloney.

Thanks. And 5 to you, St. Louis Conservative.

And by Cowboy

Why would Bobby want to get the stain that McCain is going to leave on him. Win or lose.

When does Turn..Turn..Turn...Spit..Ron Paul...Ron Paul Ron Paul...get matched up against Hucka? If you're going to have Hucka in there, should not all those who ran and did well in during the primaries in brackets instead of just those whoever created this would find acceptable?

If so where's Mitt and where's The Deity formerly known as RP?

Jindahl vs. Palin?

It's not only unequal, it would truly mean we were eating our young. Either would be an indication of sheer desperation.

Let's give folks a few years to develop some experience and "gravitas." (^.^)
