McCain Nails Harkin on Revisionist History of Vietnam

What is it with the Libs and their history? Do they think we can't read? Do they think people weren't there?

McCain is flabbergasted at Sen. Harkin's claim that there was no bloodbath when we left Vietnam. Watch Mac's face.


Sounds like Harkin attended the same history class as the Holocaust-denier Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Sen. Harkin has never seen the movie "The Killing Fields," nor has he been to Phnom Penh. When I visited Phnom Penh several years ago, I went to the school that Pol Pot converted into what was basically a torture chamber, and I also visited the killing fields. This statement makes me even more disgusted with Sen. Harkin, and frankly, I think that the good people of Iowa should recall him if tit is legal for them to do so.

but the events you describe were in Cambodia not Vietnam. Vietnam was not quite as bad, but still no walk in the park.

When we pulled out of Vietnam, we also left a premier with pro-U.S. policies, Lon Nol, to face the Khmer Rouge and the former premier who had been deposed, Norodom Shihanouk, all alone. By presenting themselves as the party of peace, the Khmer Rouge were able to take the capital in April of 1975. If we had maintained a stronger military presence in the area and not withdrawn, then the Khmer Rouge would not have come to power.
