270 Days until Election Day

MORNING UPDATE:

CPAC #3:

The conference ended up Saturday with thousands of conservative activists heading home to carry their message, philosophy and activism to a new level. The movement is strong and committed to the basic principles of limited government, free markets and a strong America. It’s a great place to get your political juices going.

Governor Mike Huckabee gave a great speech yesterday morning and confirmed he’s still going to stay in the race until the convention. I must admit, tearing up the IRS forms was one of my favorite moments J

College Republicans from around the country gathered a CPAC to use it as a way to “fire up” the troops. Michigan appears to have the largest delegation in the country, led by our state CR Chairman Justin Zatkoff. What a great group of future leaders of our party!

In the end, it’s clear to me the party will come together and enthusiastically support our nominee. The idea of Senators Hillary Clinton and/or Barack Obama running this country, serving as Commander and Chief and appointing 2 or 3 of the next Supreme Court justices is enough to scare any American.

State Convention is this Friday and Saturday at the Lansing Center. National Convention delegates and alternates will be elected at the Friday night caucuses. Anyone interested in running for a slot must fill out and return a presidential preference form by 6pm on Friday night. The schedule and forms are available at:

www.migop.org/stateconvention

Governor Mike Huckabee wins Kansas caucus. Huckabee wins Lousiana, but without getting 50% - NO delegates are allocated. Washington goes to Senator John McCain.

Prepare for the left and Democrats to start pounding on Senator McCain…front-runner status is rarely easy. Huckabee and Paul (although now running for re-election for Congress as well) are still in the race to the convention.
