Shouldn't the Senate Banking Chair know interest rates?

Where do the Democrats find people like this? The Chairman of the Senate Banking Committee doesn't know the interest rates:
Roll Call thought this was mock worthy:
Briefly Quoted. “I don’t know what the rates are today.”
— Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Conn.), surprising reporters on Tuesday with his unfamiliarity with current mortgage rates. Dodd, who was explaining why he planned to keep his scandal-tarred Countrywide Financial home mortgages, is the chairman of the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee.
It sounds like Dodd is either a criminal or criminally ignorant of the area he regulates. Will we ever find out which?

The NY media and DC political types and East Coasters in general have no idea about a lot of things. Seriously.
In discussing this story, Alan Colmes said something like, "So he paid 4 or 4.5%. Do we know that wasn't the going rate at the time?" For the size loan Dodd probably received, there hasn't been a 4% rate in 40 years or more. Colmes has probably been renting during his entire life.
Bill O'Reilly pontificates about "gouging" at the gas pumps, and how "speculators are driving up oil prices," all the while knowing nothing about either phenomenon or process.
Massachusetts types (Boston drivers are among the world's worst) think the whole country should be at 55 mph speed limits because it'd make almost NO difference in the way they drive.
The news media think that just because a few French astronomers get together in executive session and declare it so, Pluto is now a "Plutoid." Not true. A Plutoid is something Mickey Mouse's dog leaves on the lawn.

Sorry. Didn't mean to insult East Coasters. A lot of them are very bright. I just got carried away.

"What do you mean - the rate *I* would get or the rate a normal hard-working American would get?"
There you go, bringing race into the discussion.

Barney Frank was quoted in the WSJ today saying he is doing all he can to get the BAC aquisition going since what he basically explains were slimey things done by a slimey company that will soon be no more.
"If Countrywide were a continuing entity we'd have to look at it, but they're going out of business," he added.
"I believe Chris Dodd when he says he didn't know about it, I'm sure that's true," Frank said.
OK, fine. Let's forget Enron, Worldcom, Watergate, Nazi War Criminals, Nero ... You get the picture. Good thing good ol' Barn' is on the case for us serfs. He is convinced Dodd would never do such a thing, so let's just leave it at that. Where is Andy Griffith when you need him?
...Lean not on your own understanding...
Wow he was bumbling more then Barack trying to Ad-lib at an NHL game. Why so scared Chrisy?
But I believe Dodd in the video, why should he know what the rate was? He got a normal rate at the time of 0%, $0 down, 1 Soul.

This is an example of a kid caught with his hand stuck in the cookie jar. He may try to tell you that he was just checking to see what was in there, but you both know he's lying.

Guess ol' Chris was one of those lucky "winners of life's lottery" Dick Gephardt used to talk about. If I were in his shoes, I don't think I'd be knowin' much either.
It's going to cost him a pretty penny if he has to refinance, rather than give the tainted "lottery winnings" to charity.

And futhamore, Soren, when are we going to add The Next Right to our list of favorite sites? It seems to be popping up a lot, lately. Now that I look, Little Green Footballs isn't there, either. What are the criteria?

He shouldn't know any more about the topic he chairs than Obama should know anything about maturity, wisdom and Patriotism. So Dodd is off the hook. No accountability in this congress, no reason why it shouldn't apply to a Democrat wannabe president as well.
