A Tale Of Two Countries

Once upon a time, there was this big country we will call it X-land. In this country there were several ethnic groups and the rulers of X-land lived in a far away land. The country was united through a common language and religion.

The rulers decided to let a few people from another country immigrate. X-land needed immigrants so that the land could be used and few of the indigenous people of X-land had any desire to, but these immigrants brought with them a new language and new religions. The new immigrants then brought their family and friends into X-land. They were able to do this because there was no border security. Because the leaders of X-land were so distant they were slow to react.

The immigrants got together to resist the mandatory language of X-land and they started guerrilla actions against the people of X-land. Some of the X-land citizens joined with them and then it became open warfare. The immigrants won with assistance from their original country.

They formed a new land. It was a land where now they spoke their native language not the language of X-land. They could practice their religion and ceremonies, not the mandated religion and ceremonies of X-land.

This story is not a fairy tale and it is not the story about the current immigration problems facing America (but it could be). It is a basic story of the birth of Texas (some issues have been omitted.)

Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it. ~ George Santayana

You may either win your peace or buy it: win it, by resistance to evil; buy it, by compromise with evil. ~ John Ruskin

A country is destroyed faster by the enemy from within than by any armed invaders. ~ TXPoet

It is true, and a lot of people in D.C. and state legislatures should be reminded of what universal health care did to England, what happened to the Romans when they had the equivalent of amnesty, and many other things throughout history that have caused the destruction or decline of great civilizations and societies.
"A man can be destroyed but not defeated" - Ernest Hemingway
