McCain: The Government Is Here to Help
By jagermeister330 Posted in Archived — Comments (6) / Email this page » / Leave a comment »
John McCain is no friend of the entrepreneur, no friend of the small businessman, no friend of anyone who thinks that the government should be limited in what it is allowed to regulate and control.
I offer as exhibit A the baseball steroid controversy. A true conservative could never support the federal government being involved in that.
Exhibit B: the global warming hype.
Exhibit C: BiCRA
Now, of course the usual defenses will come out: But, come on, lesser of two evils, and so on and so forth....
But here's the thing...if THIS is what it takes to be a Republican...if THIS is what it takes to "get a seat at the table"...if THIS is what it takes to "share in the spoils"...count me out, and good riddance!
I was actually on the fence about John McCain until his last two speeches and now I am throwing my weight behind him.
You also fail to make your point (whatever that might have been). I at least explain why I finally came over. I would like to see you go into more detail on why you think McCain's stance on a successor to the Kyoto Treaty (if done right) would be bad on small businesses.
I still don't understand why the baseball steroid controversy is taken so seriously, maybe I don't care about baseball. I am more of a Football fan myself. However since the MLB is an approved monopoly, there has to be some government oversight. I currently don't know McCain's postion on all of this and frankly I don't care.
To average joes like you and me, what the hell does BiCRA mean to you? Absolutely noting, so quit your bellyaching. I would personally like to see campaign finance clamped down even further.
Fighting for conservatism one day at a time.
This is why I'm voting for Barack Obama in 2016. Because by then, baseball players will want to have four arms instead of two to double their chances of breaking home run records!
But John McCain won't let them have four arms, and there will be Hope for Change.
Of the R primary candidates, only one had a strong record of fighting pork/earmarks and Big Government. McCain voted against the Transportation Pork Bill and the Energy Pork Bill (one of only three Rs - not even Coburn did that). McCain voted against the Prescription Drug Bribe (and Romney used it against him in FL).
McCain supports school choice, personal retirement accounts, and lower taxes.
If his deviance on steroids trumps everything else he has done, so be it. But your shortsightedness seems odd and trollish.

The baseball steroid controversy is not my line in the sand, far from it. But it illustrates a larger point. John McCain sees no problem in using the power of the federal government to enforce his own personal preferences.
As for the question "What the hell does BiCRA mean to you?" my answer is this: What do your 1st amendment rights mean to you?
