It seems that the Paulbots are receiving advice on how to become 'stealth' delegates to their local, state, and national GOP conventions. Chief advice: don't identify yourself as being for Ron Paul or against the war.

Frankly, it reeks of cowardice. If you believe in something and you want to represent that viewpoint then you have an obligation to the voters to state that view clearly. Of course, the minute a Ronulan speaks about 'monetary policy' it'd probably be a dead giveaway who they are and what they represent to begin with.

But it is quite telling that, despite their rhetoric about how "millions of Americans" support Ron Paul and his views and evidenced by the millions of dollars he raised (whatever happened to that money, by the way? I never saw millions of dollars worth of tv ads, hmmm), they can't publicly declare their support. Kind of puts the lie to their own rhetoric.

Do not wear Ron Paul Gear- You are the candidate and you are running for a delegate position. Create your own election flyer or card with you as the candidate running for delegate…you can list credentials- soccer coach, bible study teacher, veteran, home schooler etc etc..

Do not mention the war, as this is a sensitive issue that will allow the other delegates to identify you as a Ron Paul supporter. And this will also serve to polarize our Ron Paul slate from other conservatives in at the convention. Represent a strong stance against Bin Laden and al-Qaeda, as conservatives love to hear these kinds of things. Also talk about LOCAL issues…Gregoires bizarra Park plan, property rights, You can mention monetary policy, national ID cards, the protection of civil liberties, NAFTA, immigration, etc. These are issues that conservatives will be receptive to and they are also issues that Republicans need to hear about.

Again, Make no mention of the Iraq War- You will see how quickly the crowd will turn on you, and more importantly refuse to vote for you.

Agreed. I will make no bones about what I am.

Ronulans aren't evolving, their devolving.

If they want to use their vacation days traveling to the convention good for them. Maybe they will be pulled more to the mainstream by the experience.

I don't know whether or not all this convention attending, etc., will have an impact, and I know I don't have time for all that. But more power to em'.

I feel the same about Huck supporters, etc., who are getting ready for 2012. I can't stand Huck, but more power to his supporters who care enough to lay the groundwork now.

This didn't come from the Paul campaign, and based on the reports from the various conventions this is hardly the approach that Paul supporters seemed to have taken across the country. They've been quite vocal. But what the heck--feel free to paint us as both cowards who can't stand up for our ideals AND vocal moonbats who won't shut up, all at the same time. As long as you are surrounded by people who agree with you it will still seem intelligent.

That said, I consider it more strategy then cowardice, especially considering the whole point is to make a statement at the state and national conventions (hardly cowardice). When and where you fight battles is as crucial as what you fight them over. Further, when trying to get elected for any position it is pretty standard to emphasize where you agree more then where you disagree. I would agree that, should they then attempt to put something like ending the war into the local platform once they get elected, then they have treaded well into a more Machiavellian misrepresentation. Since I have little idea who put this out, or who acted on it, I won't make any assumptions (you seem to be taking care of that).

For all the comments on RS about how meaningless, ineffective, and short-term Paul supporters are at furthering our goals within the party, you certainly don't respond well to people caring enough to actually attend conventions, vote on delegates, get active locally, and run candidates. Those are only admirable qualities if you completely agree with those doing it I guess? And, based on this diary, I assume you do all of that, too, because you certainly wouldn't cast stones on people putting in all that effort to impact their party unless you were likewise standing up for your ideals by delegate voting, getting locally active, attending conventions, etc., right? Just asking.

Look, I wouldn't have minded this piece at all if you had bothered to look at what is actually happening at the conventions and delegate election. I would argue that some local party leaders are doing far more to stealth past us then we are doing to stealth by them. And I certainly won't put my stamp of approval on every Paul supporter, or every method they use: heck no. Disagree with positions and methods all you want, but replacing some basic (read: punching words into google) research with derisive comments does not make for an interesting or informative read. If this diary had shed any light on what is actually taking place I would have found it interesting no matter what your position was. Unfortunately it seems fairly clear your only intent is to deride, and therefore you lock onto whatever the worst piece of info you can find is, don't bother to verify what actually takes place, then say "aha, those cowards, the whole lot of them"!
