I'll give the Ron Paul people this much, they sure are persistent (comments)

So, I get back from the gym today to find a package on my desk from Amazon. Now, I love getting packages from Amazon, but I hadn't ordered anything, so I was baffled as to what it could possibly be.

Well, I opened the box, and guess what some kind (albeit misguided) soul had sent me?

Yep.

I don't recognize the lady's name, but I am guessing that: (1) I met her at the GOP congressional district convention I recently attended; or (2) she learned that I was elected a delegate to the national GOP convention, and is trying to persuade me to vote for Ron Paul. That, of course, ain't gonna happen.

In fact, as it stands, I am bound to vote for Mike Huckabee, who won the Georgia GOP primary. That suits me just fine. He was my first choice, and McCain doesn't really care what the final tally is, so long as he wins on the first ballot (which he will).

In any event, I wonder whether my receiving this book is an isolated event, or if the Paul folks are purchasing their fearless leader's book for every national delegate.

Are there any other national delegates out there who have received Paul's book as a gift?

Just wait 'till BO gets his sox blown off and watch HIS true believers. They'll make the Paulistas look like chumps. Not, of course, that they don't look like chumps now...

gaming the state conventions. Apparently they are getting disproportionate representation at the conventions and pushing through rules changes so that they can get additional delegates for Paul.

I've seen the reports about AZ. I've heard allegations that it has happened here in MO.

Nevada's Ronulans disrupted so badly that they had to adjourn and reconvene later.

They tried in some Georgia counties, eoo.

Pragmatists.

This is why they are Republicans.

Being pragmatists, they see the delegate count and say "my time would be better served playing beer pong than showing up for the political thing that they're having down at the high school gymnasium to give the presumptive nominee an even bigger lock."

My cousin is a delgate here (I think we are the only blue county in a red state) - she said the Ronulans were quite obnoxious in trying to get platform changes.

I saw the article about the Nevada state convention and forwarded it to her; hopefully our state convention will be prepared.

Give Paul A Break by swamp_yankee

The primary is over. I think most people are repulsed by Ron Paul because of his stance in Iraq. Paul has a lot of good things to say. He may be an idealist, but getting people to learn about the Constitution and the vision ofthe founding fathers is never a bad thing. There will always be iconclasts and young rebels amongst the college aged crowd. It great to see so many become young rebels an behalfof the constitution. Many kids who would never learn about this stuff are giving it a first look.

I thought it was pretty mild compared to much of what is said here at RedState about Paul and his supporters.

Aye aye aye.... by kowalski

If only Ron Paul hadn't said all those things that got the John Birch Society to endorse him....

And if only his supporters hadn't been such an assiduous bunch of 9/11 conspiracy theorists at Presidential debates...

And if only he wasn't the Libertarian Nutjob version of the Reverend Jeremiah Wright in his past writings and newsletters...

So many "If Onlys..."

I do not, however, defend his right to masquerade in front of voters at Presidential debates when he should know full well that his conspiracy theorist GOONS are crashing the party.

And I don't defend his race-baiting, gay-baiting, hate-baiting comments that stretch back over two decades.

Ron Paul is one of those guys that the instant you peel back the patina of good-sounding ideas, you realize that he's vaulted himself to prominence with an awful lot of hatred. Needless, and not someone this party should *ever* nominate.

Perhaps, someday, an accounting will be made for why the republicans were rejected so resoundly by the voting population.

After people shrug and say that it has nothing to do with the spending adopted by the republican majority between 2002-2006, nothing to do with Bush's foreign policy from 2001-2008, and nothing to do with anything, at all, having to do with anything, at all, the Republican leadership did between 2000-2008 ("the pendulum swings, what can you do?"), someone may show up and mention whether a stricter reading of Congressional Amendments that aren't the 2nd might be possible.

It might not be in your best interest to shout this person down as not being a serious person or a Kossack or as someone who might be better off singing "More Than A Feeling" at a Ron Paul rally.

But, then again, maybe 2008 won't be a replay of 2006 and it will have everything to do with the strength of the Republican Candidate as opposed to the weakness of the Democratic one.
