By Bill Dupray
For thirty years the citizens of the District of Columbia lived under the tyranny of a liberal, un-American government. The people's right to own a gun to protect themselves and their families, as enshrined in the United States Constitution by our Founding Fathers, was arrogantly ignored by that government. No apology has been issued by the D.C. government (don't hold your breath) to these Americans, because liberals believe they are better and smarter than the Founding Fathers, and everybody else for that matter.

By RollingThunder
I believe yesterday was a great day in American jurisprudence. By a 5-4 decision, The Supreme Court of The United States upheld the rights guaranteed to us by The Second Amendment. District of Columbia v. Heller involved a prohibition of handguns as well as all other weapons in the District of Columbia.
Justice Antonin Scalia went into great detail to inform us of the meaning, both past and present, of such important terms as “weapon” and “militia.” Justices Stevens and Breyer did their best to persuade us that The Second Amendment only applies to those involved in military service or law enforcement. My apologies to Mr. Justice Stevens and Mr. Justice Breyer, but after carefully reading the majority opinion, I cannot subscribe to that view at all.

By skicougar
I just wanted to give some ideas on what a court pack with Ginsbergs appointed by Obama may rule on and thought I would pass it on to all in light of the recent rulings that gave us insight to how a conservative or liberal court might rule.
Allowing prayer or any religious activity before football games and all other events on government owned property used by educational organizations.
Personal and public displays of religion on government owned property used by educational organizations.

Posted at 1:16pm on Jun. 26, 2008 Heller: One Vote Away From Revolution
By Bill Dupray
The tyranny of the liberals was almost complete. One more vote and they would be confiscating our guns. After that, they could have done whatever they wanted and an unarmed population of sheep could have done nothing about it.
Five Justices, in the starkest display yet of the importance of presidential elections, saved a Constitutional right from extinction at the hands of liberals. One more Obama liberal on that Court, and the 2nd Amendment would be gone, erased from the Constitution, after more than 200 years. They are dangerous and they are dismantling our republic.

Posted at 10:18am on Jun. 26, 2008 SCOTUS Upholds 2nd Amendment! [Updated]
By The Fastest Squirrel
Apparently, the Supreme Court ruled today that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to have a gun. The Court, splitting 5-4, struck down a District of Columbia ban on handguns.
I'll update when I can find the opinion...
UPDATE: The opinion, written by Justice Scalia can be found here.
The Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that arm for traditional lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home.

Posted at 1:17pm on Jun. 25, 2008 GOP Congressional candidates should run on an 'Impeach the 5 usurpers' platform
By E Pluribus Unum
Tag this as:
protect and defend the Constitution | throw the bums out | habeas corpus this, you morons
Do it. Do it now.
Every GOP candidate for The US House or Senate, who is not polling at least 60% - your ship has arrived, and it is filled to the brim with electoral gold.
The 2008 session of the United States Supreme Court has brought us a judicial coup in progress. They have been lurching toward this for at least 40 years, since the Warren Court, and now they have openly and brazenly inserted themselves ABOVE the Constitution and ABOVE the elected branches of our Constitutional republic.
Four months before an election in which the Republican chances in Congress are universally considered bleak, SCOTUS has ruled on a matter outside their jurisdiction, given civilian court rights to terrorists, and invalidated a death penalty law by citing 'evolving standards' and European courts.
It's a gift from Heaven.

Well this is indeed good news! The free market hating environmentalists get handed a worthy defeat...as it should be!
"The Supreme Court on Monday turned down a plea by environmental groups to rein in the Bush administration's power to waive laws and regulations to speed construction of a fence along the U.S.-Mexican border."

This was always about politics and nothing at all to do with environmental concerns....as evidence I give you....

Posted at 3:27am on Jun. 20, 2008 Obama on the Supreme Court...
By Skycop150
The statement below is Obama’s concerning the recent Supreme Court decision on Gitmo and habeas corpus. (BOUMEDIENE et al. v. BUSH)
It pretty much speaks for itself and shows how much this guy is out of touch, with everything!
Today's Supreme Court decision ensures that we can protect our nation and bring terrorists to justice, while also protecting our core values. The Court's decision is a rejection of the Bush Administration's attempt to create a legal black hole at Guantanamo - yet another failed policy supported by John McCain. This is an important step toward reestablishing our credibility as a nation committed to the rule of law, and rejecting a false choice between fighting terrorism and respecting habeas corpus. Our courts have employed habeas corpus with rigor and fairness for more than two centuries, and we must continue to do so as we defend the freedom that violent extremists seek to destroy. We cannot afford to lose any more valuable time in the fight against terrorism to a dangerously flawed legal approach. I voted against the Military Commissions Act because its sloppiness would inevitably lead to the Court, once again, rejecting the Administration's extreme legal position. The fact is, this Administration's position is not tough on terrorism, and it undermines the very values that we are fighting to defend. Bringing these detainees to justice is too important for us to rely on a flawed system that has failed to convict anyone of a terrorist act since the 9-11 attacks, and compromised our core values.

I like Ann Coulter a lot. She is one of those people who says what's on her mind, and you always know where you stand with her; today that is worth a lot in my book. Yes, she has a sharp tounge but these days with liberals that is a good thing.
In her weekly column this week, she went after Justice Kennedy, and brings out some really good points that we all have been talking about this past week. And of course she adds her own brand of humor to the piece.

This article appeared on FoxNew.com
I found it tonight, and I was thinking to myself, that this is the type of court system that Justice Kennedy and his ilk, want in this country. The decision our Federal courts and even many State courts are making mirror this type of big brother, I know what's best for you and your families --and you will like IT!

Posted at 6:38pm on Jun. 19, 2008 Clinton-Appointed Judge Recommended for Impeachment
By Vladimir
The Judicial Conference of the United States has recommended impeachment proceedings against U.S. District Judge Thomas Porteous of Metairie (suburban New Orleans). Porteous was a 1994 appointee of President Bill Clinton.
It is now up to the House Judiciary Comittee, chaired by Rep. John Conyers Jr., (D-MI), to decide whether to initiate impeachment proceedings against Porteous.
A panel of the nation's top judges, including Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, determined that there was "substantial evidence" to find that Porteous repeatedly committed perjury, concealed financial relationships with litigants in his courtroom, and solicited and accepted cash and other things of value from lawyers, among other misdeeds.

Posted at 3:45am on Jun. 18, 2008 A preview of our future courtesy of Emperor Kennedy.
By stang
An object lesson in the dangers posed to our country by the recent Supreme Court cases Boumediene v. Bush and Dada v. Mukasey is playing itself out in the U.K. The legal entanglements that have hamstrung the British government’s case to deport radical Islamic cleric, Abu Qatada are a preview of what we can now expect to see in the U.S. court system thanks to Emperor Kennedy and his fellow leftist justices. Qatada, wanted in his native Jordan for allegedly plotting a series of bomb attacks in Amman in 1998 and for providing finance and advice to terrorists planning a series of explosions there, and his lawyers have made a mockery of the courts.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/2147168/Abu-Qatada-Islamic-cleric...
“Abu Qatada, the radical Islamic cleric described as Osama bin Laden’s “right-hand man in Europe”, has been released from jail after a judge ruled that there were no grounds to keep him in prison.
The decision to allow him to return to his home in London – where he will receive around £1,000 per month in state benefits – made a mockery of the government’s promise to crack down on terror suspects, and embarrassed the Home Office, which had pledged to deport Qatada to Jordan to face terror charges.” Snip
it gets better...

Posted at 1:14am on Jun. 18, 2008 A Challenge To Everyone At Red State: We Must Take Action To Protect We The People
By aceintx
OK…I’ve heard much outrage of late about the recent Supreme Court Ruling giving Habeas Corpus rights to terrorists and enemy combatants at Gitmo and rightly so. I’ve been kind of flippant about it because I figured the outrage would die as the next big event came along to distract everyone which would result in the rage about the Supreme Court usurping powers specifically enumerated to the other two branches of government being forgotten. It seems I was right to be so cynical because it looks like everyone has moved on. And so it goes and has gone for decades. Our leadership commits one outrage after another and we the people get outraged and raise hell about it for a while, but nothing ever get’s done to fix the objects of our outrage because our leadership will inevitably do something else outrageous thus constantly refocusing our eye and keeping us from fixing it all.

Two of my recent posts here on Redstate have dealt with Supreme Court decisions that I have said will have fallout that is not yet felt. I found this excerpt via a link on the Drudge Report today and I really hate the fact that in this case they are proving me right.
WASHINGTON (Map, News) - Barack Obama's foreign policy advisers said Tuesday that Osama bin Laden, if captured, should be allowed to appeal his case to U.S. civilian courts, a privilege opposed by John McCain.

Just when I was in the middle of preparing the mass sending of my letter to the Congress (see my prior post on this site), I take a break today, to watch the new FoxNews program with Laura Ingraham, Just in W/Laura Ingraham. I was hoping to hear about last week’s Supreme Court ruling on the Gitmo case, when low and behold Laura begins her broadcast with another Supreme Court bomb. (I really can't keep up with these guys...it is overly annoying!)
