It seems that the Paulbots are receiving advice on how to become 'stealth' delegates to their local, state, and national GOP conventions. Chief advice: don't identify yourself as being for Ron Paul or against the war.

Frankly, it reeks of cowardice. If you believe in something and you want to represent that viewpoint then you have an obligation to the voters to state that view clearly. Of course, the minute a Ronulan speaks about 'monetary policy' it'd probably be a dead giveaway who they are and what they represent to begin with.

Posted at 9:03pm on May 10, 2008 Where is my party going and why are we all in this handbasket? Towards a modern conservatism pt 2.

By BlackRepub

statue of LIBERTY!!!!

Someone posed the question on RedState today, what is it that we want from the Republican Party? Enough with the complaining about McCain, we need to work on giving people something to vote for rather than the liberal bogeyman to vote against. Frankly, I'd rather have the Left take the rap for gross insufferable spending, corruption and unethical politicians, and a growing cynicism by the majority of Americans towards their politicians. As we move towards an election featuring two guys that most people are shocked made it this far, I have elected to no longer discuss John McCain. His crush on Hillary Clinton I find disgusting, and I fear he will be nothing more than an extension of the NewToning we have seen from the past 8 years. In light of that, my objective is to move the Party towards the right, by rolling out a new modern conservatism that will refuel the rise and excitement of conservatism in the 21st century. So what is the solution than?

MORNING UPDATE:

PROM NIGHT…and then there are the important things in life. Our son Tadas, his girlfriend Melanie and their friends took pictures at our house before heading out to Lansing Catholic Central’s prom. Oh, how time flies.

OBAMA SAID WHAT… But if John McCain said this -- if he mistakenly said he'd visited 57 states, had 1 more to go and still missing Alaska and Hawaii??? -- The media would be all up in his grill, accusing him of a senior moment. http://migop.blogs.com/blog/2008/05/what-if-john-mc.html

Posted at 5:37am on May 9, 2008 Fred-headedness 2 – Conservatism School Back in Session:

By E Pluribus Unum

RUSSELL KIRK DESCRIBES CORE CONSERVATIVE VALUES IN THE TRADITION OF EDMUND BURKE, ALEXANDER HAMILTON, WM F BUCKLEY, AND GOLDWATER. CONSERVATISM IS, QUITE LITERALLY, WHATEVER HE SAYS IT IS.

File under: conservatism | Russell Kirk | don't hate Fred because he's beautiful | dyslexics untie!
Third in a series.

Republicans need to embrace America’s conservative roots which made her great in the first place

Here’s a question for ya. Why do REPUBLICANS need to embrace conservatism? Why do I say that? Shouldn’t DEMOCRATS also embrace conservatism? Shouldn’t Martians, tall people, and people who love horses also embrace conservatism (that’s for you, C)?

In point of fact, yes. EVERYBODY should embrace conservatism. But we are Republicans, and operating the political machinery of the nation to benefit the nation is our business. We’re smart, realistic, handsome (or beautiful), we shop at Home Depot, and we love America better than we love political power. The Dems can say those things too, but they are lying when they do so. So let’s start with us, and we’ll get to the others as time allows.

Follow me to school...

Posted at 1:31pm on May 8, 2008 Senator Chuck Grassley's attack on religious liberty

"Have you now, or have you ever been, a preacher of the prosperity gospel?"

By Feddie

Senator Chuck Grassley is apparently not a big fan of those who preach some variant of the "prosperity gospel." In fact, this form of ministry troubles Grassley so much that this past winter he decided to use his considerable power as the "former chairman and now Ranking Member on the Senate Finance Committee" to launch a full-blown investigation into the operational affairs of six "prosperity-gospel" ministries: Without Walls International Church; World Healing Center Church, Inc./Benny Hinn Ministries; Joyce Meyer Ministries; World Changers Church International; Kenneth Copeland Ministries; and New Birth Missionary Baptist Church.

By GordonTaylor

Thanks for pointing that out Ben. New Hampshire has shifted from a conservative state to a Liberal quagmire with a large influx of liberals from the Boston area. Heh, they really enjoy the low taxes, gee, no kidding.

When the first New Hampshire Republican debate was being held there, we sent Alex with reporters credentials to cover both the Democrat and Republican debates. In the process of inquiring about who was issuing the credentials, I contacted the State GOP office and they had no clue who was issuing them!

Posted at 7:51am on May 7, 2008 On Party Unity

By Martin A. Knight

This started out as comment in reply to a comment by BigGator5 (unfortunately operating under the misimpression that the diary I posted yesterday was about John McCain) in response to me. It just got too long. Anyway, BigGator5 asks;
"Why are you arguing against party unity?"

My response to that is that I actually am asking for party unity.

Unity that does not end when Election Day is over and done with. We want some more of that Unity on the floors of Congress, in the State Legislatures and in the Governor's Mansions when its time to vote 'aye' or 'nay.' We want some more of that Unity when it comes to policy, when it comes to the tough votes on Capitol Hill, in Lansing, Harrisburg, Richmond, Olympia, Austin, Bismarck, Trenton, etc.
