Sen. Jim DeMint's blogger challenge

Jim DeMint has issued a Blogger Challenge -- and he needs your help to stop wasteful earmarks.

Building upon the 100,000 Strong for Earmark Reform campaign, Senator DeMint just launched a petition widget for bloggers. Readers who sign on your site will automatically be credited as coming from blog, and there are plenty of special prizes for the top recruiters.

To embed the widget, please copy and paste this code into your post (below the fold):

<iframe src='http://www.100000strong.com/petition.php' width=100% height=425 frameborder=0></iframe>

* Note that this widget is an iframe, and you can adjust the height to whatever works for your blog to avoid having a scrollbar on the first page.

If you believe in the cause of ending wasteful earmarks, we need you to co-sponsor this petition. Selected co-sponsors will appear on the petition next to Senator DeMint.

Once you or your readers have signed, you'll also have the opportunity to send emails to your friends with your own unique referral URL. And that's where things get interesting.

If you're a blogger primary focused on covering state and local politics OR anyone who recruits by emailing their friends, you'll be eligible to win these special prizes.

  • The #1 recruiter receives a one-on-one interview with Senator DeMint, a copy of Milton Friedman's Free to Choose autographed by Senator DeMint, and an invitation to a conference call with Senator.
  • The #2-4 recruiters get an autographed book and a conference call invite.
  • The #5-10 recruiters get to join the Senator on the call.

Again, the petition widget is:

<iframe src='http://www.100000strong.com/petition.php ' width=100% height=425 frameborder=0></iframe>

Widget by K.Carpenter

The font is way too large to fit in my sidebar.

Is there anyway a widget with smaller font?
