Rice Accosted at Capitol
The Inmates are Running the Asylum on the Hill

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice was approached as she entered a hearing room on Capitol Hill today by an anti-war Code Pink protester. The protester was allowed to get way to close to Rice for way too long. The female protester shouted "war criminal" at Secretary Rice as she was finally led away by the Secretary's security detail. Several Code Pink protesters, plainly identifiable in the gallery, were also removed by Capitol Hill Police after the Rice incident.
Democrats had better get a handle on these hearings protesters and reign in their Code Pink sympathizers before one of these incidents really gets out of hand.

"Greater is an army of sheep led by a lion, than an army of lions led by a sheep" - Defoe
...I'd make CodePink and ANSWER the marketable faces of the democrat party. Why not highlight all their freaks and whackos, and delivery the message that this is who they are?
Because if Hillary! gets the nod, these are the kind of people who will be on her coattails.

Pathetic really. Must be the "Hippies" documentary running on the History Channel getting them riled up.

how quickly these anti-war people resort to threats and violence to prove their belief in peace.
And it seems like Code Pink must have training classes on how best to scream when you get carted off so that they can post the "police brutality" soundbites. They always have someone with a camera right there to film the whole thing.
Like someone said, associating these morons and all the other wackos with every Democratic candidate is a must next year. Breasts Not Bombs is a good one to include too.
He lets his people be treated this way. Hey, WH staffers and Executive Branch personnel---what do you think of that "New Tone" now?
Bush's people get treated like this, because Team Pelosi/Reid knows they can get away with it. The MSM won't cover stuff like this with any vigor. And (with good reason IMO), they feel that Bush expects his people to suffer in silence.
Petraeus...Pace...now Rice.
The President could stop this, if he wanted. Have Dana Perino announce that, until Speaker Pelosi and Leader Reid give specific assurances that stuff like this won't happen again, the WH will ignore Congressional calls to testify on the Hill. If Congress can't be gracious hosts, IMO the President is justified in sparing his people the indignity of being abused.

It's war -- so when can we start shooting back at the enemy Democrats?
It's stupid remarks like this that are adding to the polarization of this country, and the REAL enemies are reveling in it! Bush's administration propogates this kind of B.S., divide us and get their way, and the mindless sheep continue to follow their dictates. Pathetic!!!
a shot at EPU????
Give it a rest dude, please.

Setting aside any First Amendment issues (and that doesn't seem to be a problem in this forum), how do you propose that Congressional leaders "give specific assurances that stuff like this won't happen again"? Would you ask that everyone in pink be banned from the hearing room? Any body wearing a funny hat? Perhaps all who look a little nuts? Where does it end, and how do you rationalize your position in light of the freedoms guaranteed by this country?
While I wouldn't protest in the same manner of these activists, I understand their frustration. I am equally as frustrated with this idea that dissent is a punishable offense or somehow unpatriotic. I would suggest that wanting a better government whose foreign policy is more in line with the concept that the founders put forward is far more patriotic than blind allegiance.
Countdown To 1.20.2009
This moron thinks that guaranteeing the safety of an offical of the Executive Branch of government in the halls of Congress (the Legislative Branch of that same government) is a first amendment issue!
Brilliant!
him at the head of a VERY long line! Sure you want to hand out the award this early in the year? I really think there are more candidates just willing and eager to step up for their chance--be a shame to give away the BIG ONE without hearing from them. (Dear God, if only.)

I think that the nuts that are coming here are should get that honor. The only diffrence is, it would be "Morons of the Year."

I can't belive that my first post to this site has garnered an award nomination. I'm honored!
To clarify, I was commenting on the assertion that the verbal protests should be stopped by the majority leaders. I want to know what preemptive measures you would suggest to prevent the verbal protests in the hearing rooms? Stop giving me a line about Dr. Rice being in danger, I find it hard to believe that you think that was the situation. The more we scream for safety and protection, the closer we get to the doors of those hearing rooms being sealed from all citizens, whether they wear pink hats or not.

Stinking Fascist Redstaters!
Would you ask that everyone in pink be banned from the hearing room?
Fascists only ban those who oppose their views!
From the original article: The one you were presuming to comment upon...
Democrats had better get a handle on these hearings protesters and reign in their Code Pink sympathizers before one of these incidents really gets out of hand.
Now let us see. The article would SEEM to suggest a concern for the safety of all involved, especially the people coming to Capital Hill to testify.
Stop giving me a line about Dr. Rice being in danger, I find it hard to believe that you think that was the situation.
Stop giving me a line that you did not know exactly what the post was about. YOU came here with a mindset and agenda, and attacked on that basis.

This was the post for which I formulated my response. I am sure you would suggest it is my liberal lunacy, but for some reason when I hit the respond button, I end up far down the message board. Regardless, my question remains. How do you propose to reign in the Code Pink protestors? What is the plan?
I am tired of the safety argument, I am tired of the goverment keeping the populace in a constant state of fear. I am DAMN tired of being asked to look the other way while our Constitution is attacked - for our own protection of course.
Countdown To 1.20.2009
that would work rather well, but, of course, it would be wrong.
No one has a right to be listened to, at least they don't in my copy of the constitution. Though from what you've written thus far I think we have different copies.

1. A rubber bullet in the forehead at close range. Leaves one heck of a mark.
2. If the offender tries to get up after the rubber bullet, a top to bottom coverage of pepper foam would be appropriate.
I'm guessing that, even as stupid as the Code Pinkos are, a couple of those treatments will suffice.

The Dems need to tell their friends to behave. Right now, the Dems give off signals that this kind of behavior is OK---to a point.
I don't recall similar shenanigans, of this intensity and frequency, when the GOP ran Congress.

This is all Democrat Party performance art. Just who do you think supplies the same 15-20 CP protesters their passes to these hearings? Why that would be the staffs of the same Democrat Senators and Congressmen who feign indignation at CP antics. The same protesters are hauled out of hearings, only to show up again a few weeks later. It's all for the cameras.
And take Pat Buchanan with you.

This is not a post about Ron Paul. This is a post by a Thompson supporter that supports the free speech rights of Ron Paul supporters. I for one will boycott this site and suggest other bloggers to do the same. You will not get my traffic anymore or my promotion, for or against your site. The key here is web traffic and ad dollars which you successfully generated. Shame.
BTW, as an 11 minute & some odd second member, how much traffic did you generate?
Just curious.

You need to be laying awake at night listening carefully for "thawaka thawaka" sounds near your bedroom. We're coming for you. Heh. Off to Romania. Waterboarding just for fun.
Oh, and we've hijacked your IP, so we'll be creating all kinds of traffic on some FBI monitored child porn sites using it. Those boys will be waiting for you when you get back from Romania.
Oh yeah, one more thing. The Nigerians have access to your bank accounts and we work with them through the Council on Foreign Relations. Any ad dollars lost because of your silliness will be more than made up for from your checking/savings accounts.
Have a nice life. It's going to get really interesting.

The MoRons are spamming the site, they're not contributing anything useful. So we should bend over and say "again, please" to idiots that abuse free speech rights?

You should ban the IP's of users that abuse and spam the site and not blame their actions on Ron Paul. What role did he play in this?

I had no idea that the federal income tax was unconstitutional until today
Sure. Just drop the IRS a note on 4/15 telling them you are going to opt out of the system because Ron Paul says it isn't constitutional. I'm sure you wouldn't be the only one.

Yes the income tax was certainly unconstitutional, thats why we amended the constitution. But go ahead, please! don't pay your taxes and go to trial and try to use that one!.

who are making fun of your position on the income tax. After all, the 16th Amendment was never really ratified. So don't worry about the IRS. Just tell them to go p*ss up a rope. They'll back right down once they see you know what you're talking about, that you're committed, and that you're absolutely NOT afraid of them because you've got Ron Paul on your side.

Tell the all to ignore their taxes, they all be in jail and we won't be bothered by them any longer. Genius!
1) Due to limitations imposed by the U.S. Constitution, filing of federal income tax returns and payment of federal income tax is voluntary, not mandatory.
2) The 16th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which precipitated the federal income tax, was never legally ratified.
3) The U.S. government finances its operations from the unconstitutional creation of fiat money, not with revenue from income taxes.
I'd go so far as to say you can't consider yourself a true Ronulan (the only kind of REAL conservatives around any more) while you pay into a totally voluntary, unconstitutional system with unconstitutional fiat money.

I never said I wasn't going to pay my income tax...I simply said it's unconstitutional. I'll be voting for Ron Paul to support going through the proper legal channels to support repealing the 16th amendment or at least making more of the general public aware of the issue.

Courage becomes a living and an attractive virtue when it is regarded not only as a willingness to die manfully, but also as a determination to live decently.
Getting back to the issue at hand, one solution would be to prosecute these jokers when they jump up and start screaming and resisting arrest. There are only about twenty of them who come to these hearings. If they get punished, you will see how quickly they will stop.
