Attack on Limbaugh is Attack on Free Speech

Hey Folks,
Just wanted to stop by and weigh in on the attacks from the Left on Rush Limbaugh. The enmity that exists right now between American talk radio and the Democrat Congress came into high relief this Monday as leaders of the Senate engaged in repeated and distorted personal attacks of a prominent American commentator.
Now, while many see this as more politics as usual in Washington, D.C., I see something more. I believe these attacks on talk radio are a precursor for returning censorship to the airwaves of America in the form of the Fairness Doctrine. I was actually on Fox & Friends this morning discussing this very topic. Click here to read the transcript.
This week, Congressman Greg Walden and I requested that Democrat leaders bring the Broadcaster Freedom Act to the floor of this Congress immediately, and take the power away from the FCC in this, or any future administration, to regulate the airwaves of America.
The Broadcaster Freedom Act is co-sponsored by 203 Member of Congress, and it enjoys bipartisan support, including every Republican in the U.S. House of Representatives. The freedom of the press should not be a partisan issue.
I encourage you to call your representative and senators today
(especially if you live in a district represented by a Democrat) and urge them to cosponsor the Broadcaster Freedom Act. The Capitol Hill switchboard number is 202-224-3121.
You can also read more about our efforts to reject the Fairness Doctrine on a special section of my website here.

I cannot begin to imagine why (snark off). I find that these socialist Democrats cannot wait until the day they get back to controlling everything we read had hear. I am quite sure that Hugo Chavez is their ultimate hero for his ability to do just that. I now understand why they were not happy about Saddam being disposed of because he certainly controlled all thought in his country.
I believe that Americans will never allow the control of the media that the Democrats want and will be seen for what they truly are SOCIALIST'S.
Thank you for defending our first amendment rights and I will call my congressman right now. Keep fighting the good fight.
Freedom of Religion not Freedom from Religion
We need to support Congressman Pence with everything we've got on this issue. We need to make sure the Fairness Doctrine never sees the light of day.
I've done some work with NAB and can attest to the fact that the Doctrine did nothing more than muzzle political debate. Local stations would often choose not to air an issue rather than rounding of proponents from both sides.
Sometimes conservatives win debates; sometimes liberals do. But in America, we have a very clear First Amendment right to voice our opinions.
I called my congress critter - Heath Shuler - They listened - Of course he won't know what to do until Nancy tells him.

So was the vote to chastise Move On for their ad. Both sides are wrong.
But we'll take your opinion under consideration.

You need to post here more than I need to let you.

the difference between attacking someone before they even speak with that of twisting truth of what was said (not disagreement mind you, just outright malicious attacks on the General and Rush). Seems that you have had little consequence of your actions in the past but I'll say that you really need to do thus - either speak truthfully, and argue with logical facts or just go away...
MoveOn.org decided to do neither and instead called a General Officer a traitor to his country. Not only malicious but so wrong that nothing can make up for those idiotic remarks...and you uphold them. Shame on you and those that believe as you do.

I appreciate that you and Rep. Kingston are focused on a real issue, i.e., preventing the return of the fairness doctrine. Whether Rush is right or wrong, and whether is words were well-chosen or not, is all pretty inconsequential. It'll pass by tomorrow. If the fairness doctrine returns, however, we'll be dealing with the consequences for a long time. Don't let the Democrats make that change.
As for the other high-profile posters: Don't you have anything better to do than defend Rush? Or speculate regarding whether our fighting men are dittoheads? It's not like he can't defend himself -- or that your time isn't better spent on other endeavors. (Hello, Sen. Thompson? What do you stand for, other than mom and apple pie?)
For we have a peculiar power of thinking before we act, and of acting, too, whereas other men are courageous from ignorance but hesitate upon reflection.
Although Limbaugh has done nothing wrong, we again are on the defense. I suggest we look for additional stories to bring to the media headlines. Get him off the front page. Just a thought as I cannot in my position impact this in really any meaningful way.

Thank you for seeing this for what it is: An attack on free speech by anti-freedom extremists.
