Democrat Strategy For America: "Slow Bleed 'Em"...One Useless Bill At A Time

Man, talk about fiddling while Rome burns...guess what the House is taking up today for Legislative consideration? Can anyone help me understand how, exactly, honoring the life of Tim Russert, or allocating land in Montana for a cemetery, or fussing over the treatment of non-human primates helps us all stop BLEEDING from the current crisis on fuel prices? No? Yeah, me either...
Minority Whip Blunt asks the question "So Why Hasn’t Congress Acted to Lower Gas Prices?" and all I can come up with is they've been too busy on (as he calls them) "a few other higher priorities." For example:
Of the 244 laws that the Democrat Congress has enacted (thru June 6, 2008):
- 92 (38%) were to name government buildings or lands;
- 39 (16%) were to extend existing laws or make technical corrections to existing laws;
- of the remaining bills enacted into law, 87 (35%) were so uncontroversial that they passed either without a recorded vote in the House or with fewer than 10 votes in opposition.
But, heck-who am I to bellyache? At least the Democrat House gave us “Frank Sinatra Day,” “National Train Day,” “National Plumbing Industry Week,” and “National Passport Month” according to a recent Blunt presser. Feel all warm and fuzzy yet? No? There's more-"the Democrat House has been so busy naming months for various causes that they have now named 51 months...27 more than are actually on the calendar for a two year Congress."
Well done, Nance...well done. For the rest of us who are drowning in gas price-hell, give a peek at what President Bush said today about this nation's energy crisis:
For many Americans, there is no more pressing concern than the price of gasoline. Truckers and farmers and small business owners have been hit especially hard. Every American who drives to work, purchases food, or ships a product has felt the effect. And families across our country are looking to Washington for a response.
Still with me? Good...at least somebody in Washington understands the living hell we're being made to endure...
Let's go below the fold for MORE of what the "No Policy" Democrat policy is doing to America, m'kay?..
First, more than a third of Americans are rethinking vacation plans because of record-high gas prices. Next up we have kids losing out on summer camp. but, but, but...I thought this was all "for the children"...yeah, right. It's not about the kids, folks..it's about the freaking monkeys!
Then, of course, there's the always popular attack on boaters, followed by the easy mark of indirectly sticking it to the automobile industry. Given the democrats are all about Unions, where is the outrage from them now? You'd think there would be a revolt given their livelihood is being taken away from them, drop of blood by drop of blood...
Even MORE fun is the effects the ineptitude of Pelosi's "do nothing Congress" is having on the airline industry. Layoffs and reduced fleet size is driving up cost to "we, the consumer"...making travel harder and more complicated and more expensive...but what do the Democrats care? They'd rather worry about the humane treatment of monkeys..right?
Housing market? Trashed. Trucking industry? Near-bankrupt. Police protection? Gone. Public transportation? Might as well walk...and you can better bet the prices will go up too.
The list is endless...downstream effects on this gas price mess are killing every walk of life. From crushing the Military budget they STILL refuse to fund, to forcing Gas stations to close (pssst-that would be "driving down supply" gang which ALWAYS drives up cost), to freaking fuel surcharges on speeding tickets, the Democrats mean to slow bleed us right into the ground.
You know, come to think of it, I WANT to pay $$10.00 a gallon...I'll sleep better knowing Montana has some land for a cemetery and monkeys will be treated nice when they are transported across State lines.
Keep up the good work Democrats...this Bud's for you!

They did it last week in the House for a day and a half, let's seem them push every procedural motion possible to knock some sense into the Ds. [If that really is even possible.]

they do it in the Senate too.
These guys couldn't get a stimulus package passed fast enough...why the bloody hell can't they see this is even more of a crisis than the non-recession they tried to avert back then when they gave us OUR money BACK to us?

I, for one, had a great time at National Train Day in NYC. Then again, I love trains.
the power of laws that name buildings or land. It provokes thoughts of associative ownership for that third of your tax money paid to D.C.
It's a personal touch; think of it as akin to the Stalinist Welcome Wagon.
Besides, who needs Texas tea? That stuff is all gooey, black and causes global warming.

Senate Republicans have set procedural filibuster records in 07 & 08. If they were smart, they'd allow floor votes on everything even controversial legislation--the President will veto them anyway. I think setting filibuster records damages the Republican party they just look bad & this is why "rosy" estimates have a Dem majority in the Senate next year of 55. I'm not happy with the majority's performance, but simply blocking everything just makes Senate Republicans look like obstructionists (sounds familiar). By allowing floor votes it sets goodwill in case they regain the majority.

President Bush apparently doesn't have one worth mentioning either.
On National Security we were told that if the Congress didn't act on passing the revised version of the intercept law all hell would break loose. On the military supplemental, the military will run out of money. And then there's the oil thingy.
Now I will be the first to admit that I probably only slightly more attention to what the President has to say than the Democrats do, but frankly I think I surely must have missed GWB making any of these three things much of a priority lately.
Why hasn't he been on TV talking to us about his priorities vs. the utter stupidity of the Dems? Was the NS bill really a big deal or what? Heck, given the sound of the crickets coming from the WH I'm beginning to think the Dems are right... who needs it. And that pesky military funding bill that's been getting batted around for the last year? Who cares if we run out of ammo in Iraq and miss a couple of payrolls as long as we are polite towards the "loyal opposition" and remember that they are just good, patriotic Americans who see the world a little differently than us.
Mr. PresidenţI know you've had a busy spring and all, but hey, we're in a war. Please start acting like it.

"Talk Like a Pirate Day". Now THAT would be a productive use of Congressional time. That way all of us who participate here on Redstate could get a day off work to celebrate our heritage.

Well in defence of the Dems I've learned that they plan on presenting a Bill today that will make July "National Bend over and get your gas" Month. So thats how they will lower our gas prices, by shaming the oil Companies.

Stop letting this non-sense rule the calendar. Shut down the House and Senate until Pelosi and Reid agree to put a real legislative agenda forward.
