The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development admits that tax competition will bring about "a tax mix that is better for growth."

Then it goes ahead and argues that we shouldn't have tax competition.

I'm all out of snark. Insert your own.

and their proposed policies. The only thing I can think of is that they are so locked into their world view that high taxes are good, that they can't even look at their own statements that lower tax rates are beneficial.

I ran into a similar mindset on a health care thread when a Canadian claimed to no be able to afford a $100 check up, but can afford to pay far more in taxes to support "free" medical care.

The facts just don't support the policies that they cling to, but they're unwilling to admit their policies are wrong.

Socialism doesn't work. It looks nice on paper, but it's been tried and it's failed miserably every time (usually accompanied by widespread death and suffering).

Don't you realize that capitalist economies have to shrink in order to save the world from Global Warming?

That is the categorical imperative now. It must be done by all means necessary.

Bill Clinton has said that the United States economy must slow down in order to combat global warming. Everyone has known this now for quite some time. It is accepted dogma among many of the international movers and shakers in Davos.

The governor of this state, er, commonwealth, has pledged that there will never be any new power plants built here and that the energy needs of the State will be satisfied through attrition of existing power plants and legislative fiat.

When the public starts to pay three or four times the current prices for energy?

If you're operating in a culture that's forsaken personal prosperity for the sake of government-paid social programs, then reducing government revenue at the cost of growth is a bad thing. Perfectly consistent. Really, REALLY stupid, but perfectly consistent.

International economics are running on the same model as international science. Global warming, Darwinism, Socialism.

It's a party and we're all invited to pay for it.
