Annnnnd now they want to scream about McCain's military pension.
Come, I will hide nothing from you: at first, this rather cheap tactic *incensed* me.

Which was probably their goal in the first place*, and never mind what a horrible thing that would be to have on your karma. But then I had the happy thought that if the diarists at Daily Kos and the writers at Americablog (H/T Hot Air) so badly want to trumpet their inability to:
1). Tell the difference between a military pension and a military pension modified for disability;
2). Comprehend why it's a bad idea to pitch fits over a Senator's stance on GI Benefits when they can't even get elementary details about them right themselves;
and/or
3). Internalize that there might be other reasons not to call into question the service and military pension of a man who has been tortured in the service of his country than the rather tawdry one that doing so makes the attacker look bad**;
...then who am I to stop them?
Moe Lane
PS: Of course they're Obama supporters - Aravosis in particular. You actually had to ask?
*Well, I'm sure that it wasn't aimed at me personally.
**You see a lot of that, usually from people who then want to be instantly congratulated for how wonderfully balanced they're being. I don't know what's worse: the thought that there are people out there who think that the simple act of being non-monstrous human beings somehow sets them above their peers, or the thought that when it comes to the progressive movement they might just be right.

I don't know about the other liberal blogs, but Daily Kos puts very little content control on the diaries feature; you know, free and open forum and all that. I'm just saying you'll find under-informed or mis-informed posts on any site which allows the posting of user-content.

...of assuming that we're dumb, Fedaykin. We're quite aware of the fact that places like dKos are configured to allow people to safely spout off hateful things like the diary referenced above; that such things are far from being discouraged by either official fiat and/or public disapproval; and that a post like this will spawn an apologia for the site and its inhabitants as surely as the tides. Which is actually why I usually don't bother - but the progressives were being even more vile than usual tonight.
Do yourself a favor: quit while you're behind.

My apologies. I'm not trying to argue, I'm simply posting from the "disagree with what a person says but defend their right to say it regardless" POV.

I think this speaks to the importance of making a distinction between news and opinion. The former is learning facts while the latter is internalizing stances. While the internet has existed as a medium in the mainstream for the better part of a decade, I think blogging has been the culmination it as a viaduct for the free flow of ideas. Better yet, it takes advantage of the principles of the free market in that those with good ideas will attract listeners and can grow.
However, there's a downside to this. The advent of media like USENET, RSS and internet arms of the cable news giants may have opened the spigot, but blogging has knocked it clear off the pipe and in the same action any type of content control. The free market principle of better bloggers attracting readers applies largely to the free flow of opinion and not facts- I'm a teacher and can't well afford to maintain a fact checker in my household budget. I read Daily Kos, but I read it for viewpoints and opinions, not facts. The same applies to Red State.
Now I don't think blogs are bad at all, however, blogs have inherent biases. Blogs are presented from a certain viewpoint. When a knife salesman comes to the door and wants to make a pitch, do you listen intently and take what he says at his word? Of course not. He's going to talk to you as a person looking for an outcome. Are bloggers this bad? Not necessarily. I'm looking at new kayaks these days. I may not know the sales staff where I shop, but I know the products, what they cost there and elsewhere, the capabilities of different boats and what capabilities I'm in need of. All I'm saying is if you want news and facts, go to a bona fide news source. Then once you're an educated go to political blogs to bounce around some ideas.

The Obama bloggers at Daily Kos, MyDD, etc., are misguided and do not know what they are writing about. They attack writers who express concerns about Obama personally rather than stick to issues. But they do reflect on the inexperience and unethical aspects of Obama. These are the people that gather around Obama; typical Marxist. I'm sure many of these people are paid Obama bloggers that go from website to website to mock Senator McCain, as they did Hillary.
"The natural reminder here is O.J. [Simpson] -- how does an African American candidate attack a white woman?" Jesse Jackson, Jr., Obama's National Campaign Co-Chair to the Washington Post after the Iowa win.

All blogs are biased by the person/people writing for them. I try to be unbiased when I'm writing on my blog, and give what I think is good analysis. I going to have an article on Why McCain will beat Obama up very soon. I hope some of you will take a look at it and other posts there.

Granted, it is a political ploy, but it's just dumbfounding how Aravosis can equate the disability payments a 21 year Navy officer (+4 for Academy) granted upon discharge BEFORE he ever was elected to political office to his no vote on the GI Bill. The bill did not address the key needs of the military and was laden with $10bn in domestic pork spending. Not only that but senior Pentagon officials, including SecDef Gates believed that:
Gates also restated long-standing Pentagon opposition to GI Bill educational benefits that are too generous, making it more likely for service members to leave the military to attend college. “Serious” retention issues are expected if benefits exceed the average monthly cost for a four-year public college, including tuition, room, board and fees, Gates said.
Emphasis mine.
But returning to the topic at hand, if McCains pension is for a disability or for a retirement or heck, it's a bonus just because Reagan really liked him upon his departure from the Navy in 1981 it is something he earned. No different from any other military person who served in war time, peace time, as a POW, or as a 20 year desk jockey in the E-Ring.
This pandering to their base that abhors the military over class or in this case pension envy is just disgusting.

They make up an entire back story of lies about a veteran to further their evil intentions, and then ignore and lie some more when the reality of their lies are pointed out by their own members. Any vet hanging out with the left is either a convenient fool, or a traitor. And yes, I say that as a veteran who is not happy at all with McCain, but recognizes the terrible danger from a marxist like Obama.
There was envy, resentment but not one mention of what the man had to go through to earn it.
"Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must, like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it."
-Thomas Paine: The American Crisis, No. 4, 1777
are the same ones who were livid when Kerry's troopmates questioned his "injuries".
The childish distortion of McCain’s benefits is just mind boggling. Why would they even want to bring attention to something that so blatantly contrasts their inexperienced and naive candidate with McCain’s strongest narrative credential? Of course they use his military family as “proof” he’s a warmonger too… so I suppose anything is possible.
The GI Bill debate is horribly frustrating to watch. McCain is on the right side of this issue but the Obama side is effectively drowning out all reason from the debate with over-simplifications, straw-men, and even accusing/implying McCain of not caring about veterans. A completely indefensible accusation.
And thanks to the salivating proBama media’s assistance, it’s working, especially on those who don’t follow politics closely. Had an old vet friend sending around an e-mail outraged and shocked that McCain opposed education benefits for veterans. He had no idea that McCain supported a smarter alternative bill.
And how did the media respond to this debate? They painted McCain as opposing criticism of his policies by non-vets. Nothing close to what he was referring to (Obama’s baffling implication that he didn’t care about veterans being out of line). Facts are going to be difficult to get through to the public in the next few months.
Ugh…

That there are some military veterans in the Daily Kos thread that do point out the point you make in your first point.
Daily Kos allows anyone whom wants to the ability to make diaries. Considering people will form opinions on topics *even if* they aren't experts, diaries written with a faulty understanding of material will happen from time to time.
