Geez, Senator Obama. Are the May/June fundraising numbers *THAT* bad?
You usually don't start flinging around the raw meat to the acolytes like this.

Anyway, that's what I'm guessing, based on this report by Captain Ed. I seem to remember somebody around here noting something to the effect that the prerequisite for having a fight is to have both parties actually show up: presumably, this includes gun-fights. That should scupper the Senator's plans nicely.
I'd comment further, except that as a Republican I'm not actually permitted to make use of metaphors involving firearms when talking about my opponents. Such is life.

PS: To be fair, while The Untouchables was a generally bad film, I can see why Obama would try to evoke Sean Connery, and Connery's character did call his strategy "The Chicago Way." Perhaps we should substitute "He's in the car" for "Obama threw him under the bus..."

Since at least Dukakis, with the sole exception of Bubba, the Democratic candidate for President has cooperated willingly with Republican efforts to label him effete.
Dukakis nodding along with the question about what he would do if his wife were murdered, Kerry in Spandex on the windsurfer, Gore and his unrestrained wonkishness, all helped establish the Democrats as the party of low testosterone.
There are undoubtedly memos at Obama HQ and the DNC underscoring the importance of not having that happen this time.
So, following the script, Obama tries to talk tough.
I didn't see a tape of it, but from the transcripts he's not quite getting the job done. It's about as intimidating as the class geek quoting Spiderman lines.
He's in a tough spot after the extended primaries. He may need to be all Alan Alda sensitive to get the aged Hillary women's lib vets back under the Democratic banner, but he needs to connect to regular working class guys to win in some of the swing states like Ohio.
Do not blaspheme "The Untouchables."
"No compromise with the main purpose, no peace till victory, no pact with unrepentant wrong." - Winston Churchill
And using threats of violence as an allusion, especially from a Chicago politician, is crass. Remember- Obama has never had to actually face a tough opponent before. They have always had 'problems' force them off the ballot.
Alluding to violence when discussing how you plan on dealing with you opponent, who just happens to be a decorated war hero who was brutalized while a POW? Well, at least Barry didn't treaten to knock out his teeth or break his legs.
Just wondering, after the abuse Hillary was subjected to for referring to RFK.

but Brian de Palma sure has made some stinkers. Even like-minded liberal film critics wouldn't excuse him for how terrible they thought "Redacted" was.
Actually, I thought that was a good moment in pop culture, when those critics declared that good intentions are not enough. Roger Ebert was virtually alone in putting the politics of an otherwise bad film first.
