How close are Obama and Wright?
Is he telling the truth?

Barack Obama said yesterday that Jeremiah Wright was just his pastor, not his "spiritual mentor" or his "spiritual counselor". This video suggests that ... Obama may not be telling the truth about this. But what else is new?

Obama started his defense with an incredible lie: he was close to Wright for 20 years, attended his whatever that freakshow is, and was shocked to learn his pastor or whatever was racist and anti-American. Let's face it, the Left was very willing to lap up that fiction. I find it hilarious that the left-wing only exploded after Wright attacked the MSM.
In a few months, Obama probably will utter "Rev. who?" and the same leftists will suspend disbelief. Obama thinks we are like his sycophants. I don't think Obama considered Wright a spiritual mentor as much as an early career enhancer. But he has said otherwise, but now denies it.
If the comments on the local NC talk radio this morning are any indication, Obama is right. Those that support him are stupid. I have never heard such syncophantic backpedaling as I have this morning on the way to work. The morning guys on the big FM talk radio station here were stepping over themselves defending poor, poor maligned Obama and so was 90% of the callers. The only ones who weren't were the yahoos getting on the air and calling Obama a Muslim, which just gave the hosts an opporutnity to paint Obama detractors as slack-jawed yokels.
Also, the official party line started this morning...Obama is to Wright as McCain is to Hagee. Get ready to hear this train of "thought" ramped up in the coming days...
Where everyone is so much smarter than the rest of the state. They did "Ya'll" a favor by just moving down their and setting up shop as ornaments to society.

I live in Asheboro in Randolph County, about the reddest part of NC. We've had Fred Smith practically living here the past several months as he runs for governor. I was listening to Brad and Britt on 101.1 FM this morning. I think they are out of the Raleigh area. Most of the callers and local shows are out of the Triangle area, which is the NC equivalent of the liberal northeast. Generally, I don't like the two of them and listen to 101 for Boortz and Clark Howard, but I caught about 15 minutes of them this morning. I wanted to use a colorful metaphor involving kneepads to describe their love for Obama, but I thought better of it...
He's just ridden' 'em dirty!

I was going to guess it was Chapel Hill, LOL.
and I think you can answer your own question.
The middle ground between "he thinks we're stupid" and "he's a pathological liar" is pretty small.

You don't have to buy lies for these are the opinions of the pastor. If you were held responsible for the deeds of your alcoholic brother/spouse/child you would not have liked that either and would not enjoy it to stand and defend their acts
1. During your Philly speech, you said you could no more disown Rev Wright than you could the black community. Are you disowning him now? If so, why now and not then?
2. Did you honestly not know about Rev Wright's sermons after being a church member for 20 years?

Why should Americans trust your judgment with respect to men like the Iranian President, who you want to talk to without preconditions, when you are unable to tell the content of the character of your own minister?

Hillary has attacked you, saying you are "inexperienced". You have countered, saying that you have superior judgement to Hillary Clinton. What does it say about your judgement that you attended this church for 20 years, and a) either didn't know what Rev Wright was saying all that time, or b) you turned a blind eye to it?

a) Michelle? b) Really? c) Didn't you to maybe date around first?

Now that you've disowned Wright is the black community next?
If Obama were a Republican, Michael Moore would be making a documentary about the saga of his journey from the Magic Negro to a journeyman liberal politician who can lie with impunity because of the complicity of the media.
There would be a special feature on his wife, the charmingly bitter and arrogant Michelle whom we owe big time because of the suffering she experienced at Princeton and Harvard and the unfair student loans she incurred that we heartlessly demand she pay.
There must be someone out there who can take all of these different Obama's and put together a fascinating film to be shown as this year's October Surprise.
No doubt, CNN and PBS would be vying for the privilege of showing it with multiple repeats. s/off

Whoa, that's incredible. Isn't the Globe owned by the NYT?
Here is a link.
As usual, She nails it. Read the comments. Even liberals say she got it exactly right.
For a guy that is usually pretty smooth, he came off like someone trying to present material they aren't really familiar with.
Obama is toast.

Her insightful analysis is usually jaw droppingly acccurate. That, coupled with her writing skills and her sense of humor (when warranted), always makes me head towards anything she writes.
Now as to Sen. Obama's performance. I think he's realizing that his carefully planned and orchestrated assault on the Presidency is unraveling! He forgot to remove the land mines before he started crossing the battlefield!

What does Rev Wright do now? Does he respond to Obama's strong words about him? Does he call Obama a liar? I wonder if there's a little anxiety over at Obama HQ over what Wright's next move is going to be.

at one of the questionable sermons will come up...who will uncover it and expose it?...good question..

surfaces that shows Obama embraced Wright's views and ideology. Granted, that hasn't been discovered but it would force Obama from the race whereas mere attendance at such a rant would be explained away with another lie.
He learned to hate America long before he ever met Wright. His mother was one of those Marxist, America hating, academics who hated her own culture so much she had to go abroad and find a Muslim to marry. I know the type, I have met them, they suck.

(whatever that means), a state senator, and for a few nanoseconds a United States senator. If he has committed something to print or audio--intentionally or inadvertently--that betrays the anti-Americanism and racism inherent in Wright's rants, he's toast. You are right, such may pre-exist his involvement with Trinity.
I believe it will take more than Wright/Trinity to bring him down.
It will be mosiac of issues that will have to turn the voters off. Endless focus on his church and Wright could backfire.

....that will be cobbled together to paint Obama as a far-left politician with very troubling associations, and as a man whose values are way out of step with mainstream America. I think the Born Alive Infant Protection Act and the gun ban will be bigger issues for Obama in the future.

1. McCain, 2. Thompson, 3. Giuliani, 4. Romney
Never!
Just goes back to the old phrase: "How do you know a politician is lying? Their lips are moving." (although they're getting pretty good at non-verbal BS as well)

Obama thinks he can get away with just discarding Jeremiah Wright, but he's badly mistaken. There's already getting to be a lot of buzz that Rev. Wright's planning to take his revenge on Obama. I just saw this story this morning and I think it's right, there's more to come: http://mamacoke.blogspot.com/2008/04/wrath-of-jeremiah-wright_30.html.
Good luck sweet-talking your way out of this one, Sen. Obama!

Obama said that you are not the man he knew before and that your view were extremist views. Have you changed your theology so drastically in the last 5 years as to have it unrecognizable to members of your flock?
I see a total decline of the media for holding one man responsible for the ideas of another.
Obama should not have to comment and be held responsible for opinions of the pastor.
If your brother is an alcoholic or your father failed the family society can not punish you for the fact that you are related to that person.
One politician publicly lied about bullets which she never faced and just walked away with that. I think that's more serious then to be held responsible for another mans views.

hangin' from a telephone wire.
Does he think we are stupid?
