Huffington Post Lies. Again. And They Know It.

The Huffington Post and MILive.com, the website of the Ann Arbor News and other major Michigan media outlets are both running this Libby Quaid article from the Associated Press that makes you wonder if headline writers (or Libby Quaid??) actually listened to what John McCain said.
The headline is "McCain: Democrats' Stance on Iraq Flawed".
That seems innocuous. The problem, of course, is what happened this morning when people first read the headline. And the problem continues at the Huffington Post, which really doesn't care about the truth.
At the time, Huffington Posts's headline was "McCain: We Have "Something Approaching Normal" In Iraq" Huffington Post has a fun little tracker where you can track the distortion through the whole story.
Now, pay attention to those changes. Huffington Post changed the headline to the current AP headline. They intentionally, willfully changed the headline to the article. Clearly, one would think, they knew the original headline was grossly inaccurate. But, on their homepage they continue the lie, complete with a graphic cutting a McCain picture to the violence of Iraq.
What's so wrong with the HuffPo lie? Well, here are McCain's actual words.
“The dramatic reduction in violence has opened the way for a return to something approaching normal political and economic life for the average Iraqi.”
That's not quite the same as saying we already have something approaching normal. And it is an outright bold distortion of the truth from a website that tries to claim some modicum of fairness in its news reporting.

At least the Puffington Post is recognized as a lefty blog. More infuriating is the MSM's repetition of the "100 years of war" lie. McCain had better call the MSM on this--soon--before it gets baked into the cake.
From NBC/NJ's Adam Aigner-Treworgy
KANSAS CITY, MO -- In a speech at the National World War I Museum here this morning, McCain gave a relatively optimistic appraisal of the situation in Iraq, saying that the recent reductions in violence have returned the country to something "approaching normal political and economic life for the average Iraqi."
you'll see that he has chronicled that this is part of a cycle how the left wing blogs and parts of the main stream media are able to essentially create news by linking back and forth.
Fighting for conservatism one day at a time.
Uhh, what website would that be?

left or right.
