"It is but the deep breath before the plunge."

And now we wait for the election to start.

Yes. Now. Everything up to this point has been merely the prologue. The actual election will start when one side or the other releases its June fundraising totals: at that point, the clock starts ticking for the other to follow suit. The longer the delay, the worse the results; the worse the results, the more unfavorable conclusions that may be drawn.

I won't waste anybody's time by writing out my snapshot assessment of the race right now: you'll either agree with me, call me a partisan shill, or agree and call me a partisan shill. Suffice it to say that I like our chances. But one thing is for certain: this is going to be the first Fishbowl Presidential election, and there are very few people who are really aware of that, let alone prepared. It's going to be a fun election, folks.

It's not going to be a nice one, though.

Now keep a civil tongue in your head young man! It's been decreed that there will be no roughhousing this time.

I say this honestly, without malice or guile.

Good luck.

How Obama fights by booksum

I hope the McCain Campaign figures out quick that Obama is gonna fight as dirty and nasty as any of us can begin to imagine. Maybe the Wesley "waco texas" Clark nonsense was a wake up call.

McCain walking around talking about having a civilized campaign about the issues is delusional.

See the enemy for what it is.

Or this thing will be over in July.

He has so far proven all my worst fears about him as a candidate. I am close to the point where I can't vote for him, even to stop Obama.

many people on Redstate are acting like McCain has it in the bag. OMG! that is so wrong. Obama is going to win unless McCain starts attacking him AND puts out some credible conservative positions on the problems we face.

Bring Mr. Nice guy, attacking the business community, and trying to appeal to centrists ain't gonna cut it.

particularly on his service, have fired up independents and the rank and file at the exact moment (as was Moe's point) this thing gets started. I actually mean this as a compliment: McCain can be every bit as mean and petty as Obama, and I expect he has been angered enough in the last 48 hours to show it. Let the evisceration of Obama begin. The man is a pinata.

What about this?

The Obawans are doing their best to get McCain to lose his temper in public so they can use the "loose cannon" charge against him--intemperate, old, and incoherent.
