Not a bad statement, but oh, how the Clintons are going to beat you up for this:

Now would be an excellent time for people to start getting screen shots of all those unfortunate things that the Online Left said about Reagan. Particularly the things said once he was dead. You never know when one of those guys might want to work for the Obama campaign, after all.

...Where Reagan said, "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!", Obama would say "Mr. Ahmadinejad, let's sit and talk this over!"
This guy is as empty as it gets. I hope he wins the nomination, he's gonna be raked over the coals, and be found for the wet-behind-the-ears, no record, marriage redefining, partial-birth-aborting, tax raising, big government, terrorist appeasing socialist he is.

Reagan talked to our enemies and convinced them of our resolve. He stood on principle but still had the courage to meet with the enemy. I applaud Obama for saying he would meet with Ahmedinejad. I would expect him, however, to be like Reagan and not waver on principle.
could be fruitful.
He wasn't going to engage in fruitless discussion, so he made sure that someone he trusted tested out the waters.
Prudent thinking if you ask me.
Obama is using the "It's Morning in America" strategy that Reagan so effectively used in his campaign. This is just further evidence.

If Obama had used his standing with the antiwar left as an early opponent of the Iraq war to make an end run to Hillary's right, with just one - ONE! - grown-up statement about dealing with the situation in Iraq as it really is and being open-minded about moving forward in the nation's interest...
...the nutroots might have exploded, but a lot of independents and even centrist-Republicans would have bowed down before him.
Too late for that - which is probably a good thing, considering what a "wet-behind-the-ears, no record, marriage redefining..." etc. etc. he really is.
I don't think the Clinton's really want to get into a substantive debate over this point. Bill Clinton was a disaster for the Democratic Party while Reagan helped the GOP control the White House for 12 years. The Democrats would love to have a Reagan like figure and that sure isn't Hillary.
Which Presidency since FDR resulted in the most significant long lasting change to the country?
On economics, look at the economy for 20 years before 1981 and compare it to the economy we have had since 1983. Huge change. Unleashed the power of capitalism. 5.7& unemployment is bad today. In 1980 it would have been called a dream.
Foreign policy. 1979 was a year in which people said the decline of the US was unevitable. In the years after Reagan, nobody disputes that we are the sole super power.
The man "made a difference" in a way that no democratic President has since FDR.
To think that we've been searching to the ends of the earth to find Ronald Reagan... and there he was in the Chicago Democratic machine. Astounding!
Senator, I knew Ronald Reagan. Ronald Reagan was a friend of mine.
Senator, you are no Ronald Reagan.

Damn the Obama! Full speed ahead!
...is no Ronald Reagan." I love it!
Obama was able to articulate what Reagan meant for America as good if not better than any of the guys in our primary.
If Obama gets the D nomination, please burn this clip, I never want to see it again, it could make me consider voting for him.
I think he may actually be baiting Hill/Bill to go on the record ripping the Gipper. I think (s)he is too smart to take that bait.
He is the most thoughtful person to run for president in years. Someone who thinks things through before talking, and says what he thinks, not what the party tells him to. Plus hes going up against the Clinton machine and not backing down.

of course there is no substance, it is a "fairy tale", but the guy is making some good moves. He could sway a lot of squishy moderates with that kind of talk. If he gets the nod, we will have to fight hard and with no kid gloves.
