The Best Ideas From Both Parties

One Terrific Video After Another

Senator McCain's campaign has launched his "first general election ads in Ohio and Pennsylvania."

Titled "Ignite," the fast moving 30 second spot appeals to swing voters promising the best from both parties:

Announcer: As President, John McCain will take the best ideas from both parties to spur innovation, invest in people and create jobs.
Taxes — simpler, fairer. Energy — cleaner, cheaper. Health care — portable and affordable. Workers retrained, mortgage debt restructured, education transformed. Initiatives that will unite us and ignite our economy.

Big ideas for serious problems. John McCain.

Another well-done effort from McCain's video folks. The quick images of tax forms, wind turbines, medical professionals and office workers illustrate the script. Homes and children roll across the screen to make McCain's point.

Since McCain won the Republican nomination, his campaign has cranked out one terrific video after another. My favorites are Tolerance And Respect and Courageous Service, but there has been a whole series of great McCain videos.

We are lucky to have him by liberalrepublican

I know there was gnashing of teeth as he won the nomination, but we are lucky to have him.

The same things that made him a less-than-perfect candidate to the right wing of the party are the same things that will make him appealing in the general.

With a war going on and the best of us fighting and dying, it's critical we get this right. To me,McCain has always been the best candidate to be Commander in Chief.

I went from thinking we had no chance in the next election (my thoughts last summer) to thinking we'll win it.

I hope people realize what is at stake, realize that we can win and put their money on the line so messages like get out to as many people as possible.

This is his best ad yet. Short, sweet and positive. I preferred Man In The Arena, but I'm sure this will be more convincing to the average voter.

The best of both parties? What do they have that isn't compulsory, derogatory toward individuals, and economically illiterate? Why do want anything of theirs?

He should replace 'mortgage restructuring' with 'contract law destroying' or 'moral hazard incentivizing'. Besides the fact that it's a flip-flop from earlier comments when he said the government should stay out.

Yeah great, he can win. But let's not cheerlead, let's try and have some principles and maybe try to keep pressure on him to make the correct choices. He's not a naturally freedom-loving capitalist. He will need to be constantly and consistently corrected, and I hope that at least here on Redstate we can try that.

I am voting for him, but he's dead wrong on things like speech, money, greed, etc. So I'm not interested in a win that actually ends up in a loss of more freedom and loss of any credibility as a liberty-minded party.

I can't think of much we would want from them, but politics has to appeal to the squishy middle as well, I suppose.

Really, though, I hate to say it, but he might be our best option this election. Its just a weird year.

He is the ONLY Republican who even has a realistic dream of winning this year an, truth be known, he probably is more conservative than Bush.

Yet and still, there is something about that ad of his that makes me a little queasy. Hopefully, though, it will appeal to independents and the "middle" (without turning off conservatives).

However I think in total McCain will be no more frustrating than Bush, yes.

It doesnt have to be Mitt..

but if he picked a really solid VP...

I know I would feel a whole lot better...
