"The Reality-Based Community" Loses Another Round In A Battle With The Facts

Factcheck.org has the details. We are seeing an awful lot of incidents in which McCain's words are twisted, aren't we? And here I thought that Team Reality--to use the term popularized by Tom Maguire was above that sort of thing.

Meanwhile, Andrew Sullivan--never missing a chance to lobby aggressively for Barack Obama--tells us that "if Jeremiah Wright's words are to be the basis on which this election is decided, then John McCain's words count too." No one said otherwise. Of course, this is entirely beside the point as well. The issue isn't words "counting." Rather, the issue is having statements reported and quoted correctly, accurately and in context.

Sorry if I come across as an, well, you know tonight. But victory is close, despite everything, so I'll take a win no matter no matter how imperfect the vessel.

McCain should respond with his own ads where he notes he actually thinks US troops staying in Iraq is a good idea because we can maintain armies there without our troops being targets.

Here is Senator McCain's actual Iraq record:

"I believe that we can win an overwhelming victory in a very short period of time." [CNN Late Edition, 9/29/02]

"There's no doubt in my mind that once these people are gone that we will be welcomed as liberators." [MSNBC, Hardball, 3/24/03]

McCain: "And I believe that the success will be fairly easy." [CNN, Larry King Live, 9/24/02]

the problem is the "effectiveness" of the ad. How's the weather in your world?

Especially for people who create their own reality.

Socialism doesn't work. It looks nice on paper, but it's been tried and it's failed miserably every time (usually accompanied by widespread death and suffering).
Proud member of the V.R.W.C.

And McCain was correct by Uma Richie

For statements one and two, in early April 2003, I distinctly remember watching CNN coverage an Iraqi man desecrating a picture of Saddam Hussein in a very humorous and vulgar way.

Statement 3 was made six months before Operation Iraqi Freedom began. Had we not waited so long and allowed time for non-Baath hostile forces to group, success may have been easier.

Thanks for pointing out McCain's correct statements on the matter.
