Unto Us A Candidate Is Given

In response to critical blog posts concerning Barack Obama by my colleague Erick Erickson, we have this response, which is supposed to tell us . . . what? That Jesus calls upon Erick to repent? That Obama does? That there is no difference between the two? That Erick is one of the scribes or Pharisees and does not understand that Obama/Jesus is absolving the sinners? That John McCain is marked by the number "666" and will be defeated by Obama in the end times and that in the meantime, those of us who have not experienced the Rapture and joined the Obama campaign ought to do our best not to given in during the Tribulation and join or donate money to the McCain campaign?

I suppose that all of these questions deserve answers. But I tell you, dear readers, I am thinking very seriously about quitting RedState and going over to be a Daily Kos writer. That way, I can cover my bases and root for Obama full bore.

Remember, I am Jewish. And it's a risky thing to deny someone hailed as the Messiah. We have a reputation for that sort of thing--whether deserved or not--and it has led to trouble for us in the past.

...Jesus surrounded himself with the Pharisees and with the scribes and with all of those other unsavory persons in order to lead them to forgiveness, and that Obama's association with Rezko, AND with Wright, AND with Ayers, AND with etc., etc., etc., is so that he might lead them to the righteous path despite their many sins.

And hey, if he gets a little bit of a political boost, a little "street cred," a good bit of money, and a free house along the way, well, those are just the perks of being The Forgiver!

My take too, Jeff. by Socrates

And add to that the passage's subtext, which is who'll cast the first stone. With what sort of unsavory characters does Erick hang? Probably some *really* despicable types -- maybe even people who want abortion outlawed.

"The healthy do not need a doctor" implies that Barack is a doctor, as you say, able to heal the sick. But the converse is also true: the sick do need one, which is really what the anti-Erick blogger means.

So the question is, which of these formerly corrupt individuals that you mention has now been made whole, washed clean, as it were, by the attention and favor of Barack Obama?

Surely his ministry is not so ineffective as to leave them all corrupt.

Heh. That would be me.

My bad, Erick. ;)

The verses above speak of salvation in Christ. What Jesus meant is that if you aren't sick, you have no need of a physician. Therefore, if you lived a sinless life, you have no need of a savior. However, no one as far anybody or I know has managed to live a sinless life (Romans 3:10,23), thus God demands each and all people to pay the wages of sin (Romans 6:23). The wages of sin is death, and death is defined as eternal separation from God. This eternal separation from God is spendng eternity in Hell.

But Jesus came to Earth for the purpose of saving every soul that is already condemned to spending eternity in Hell (Romans 5:8,12). That's why Jesus spoke of a need for physician. He heals sinners by sacrificing His own life on the Cross for their past, present, and future sins. This is the free gift from God, all one has to do is ask Christ as his or her Personal Savior and ask for His forgiveness of his or her sins (Romans 10:9,10,13).

Pejman, if you haven't done so, I would urge you to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior.

Otherwise, I'll shut up for a while. I'm attending a bible study at Gallaudet University tonight.

And oh, I can't resist this, but I hope Green Bay Packers will be coming back with vengeance...beating your Chicago Bears! I am from Wisconsin, so... ;)

You have free will, that's what God gave you, and it is the greatest gift, second to the gift of salvation in Christ. As always, each and every soul should be allowed to make his or her own decision in regards to how one wants to spend the eternity after death.

I wish you no ill, but a good life. May God bless your day.

There is a time for everything, and now is not the time for preaching to Pejman.

He heard the message. Browbeating him will not help.

Yes, Pejman heard the message, and I'm leaving at that. I haven't bothered him via the contact form or chasing him all over Chicago. He expressd his view, and I expressed my view, that's it. Other than that, I don't know him, and he doesn't know me. Nothing more or less than that.

As matter of fact, no other moderator has taken me to task for that post. None of them have contacted me, so I don't know what they are thinking of my post. Moreover, I'm not doing the preaching thing every time a blog appears on Redstate. I've been here for little more than a year, and the only time I've done this is today, I think. Feel free to check through my posting history, it's open for all to see.

I read more than I post, but let me seek harmony re Cheetah's witness to Pejman. An evangelical Christian, Cheetah believes that he is under God's command to tell people who Jesus Christ is. George Bush believes this. Hence, the President's readiness to talk about Jesus. Obama so believes, as best I can guess, at present. I so believe. The Bible is God's word, and wholly true. Acts 1:8 is the plain command of the Creator of the universe. In Acts 1:8, as elsewhere, we meet the Straight Talk Express, the big one. It's God talking. If you accept Jesus Christ, you must tell other people about Jesus. It isn't optional. It is a joyful and blessed duty.

Now, Cheetah's prayer will be that he witness effectively. Wise decisions here require the aid of the Holy Spirit. Cheetah saw that Pejman had introduced teachings by Jesus, which is New Testament exegesis, as relevant to a post topic. He wondered if this tokened that Jesus had been placed on Pejman's heart. Cheetah knows who Jesus is. So, he told who Jesus is. It happens all the time, praise God. It's what evangelicals do. This paragraph is my informed surmise, as to Cheetah's intent.

So, Cheetah shared the Good News. He wants to bat 1.000 when he witnesses, because God wills that none perish. He certainly doesn't mind being rebuked. Christ didn't bat 1.000. He kept going, and got far worse than a "please get lost." Ditto the Apostle Paul, Peter, ditto the Holy Father from Bill Maher, and believers in Sudan, China, and Saudi Arabia.

Pejman and Cheetah each exercised constitutional freedoms and, as best I know, also followed the rules for posting. I'm telling you, if he is truthful with the world, as I believe, Bush "does a Cheetah" when he can. Full disclosure, Bush will attempt to steer a discussion toward Jesus. Really, he'll do that. That's what I think. If you get Bush in conversation, start talking about Jesus. See what he ends up saying.
