I don't think I need to offer much commentary beyond just giving you this bit:
When Representative Jeff Flake, Republican of Arizona, recently ridiculed a provision on the House floor to spend $100,000 on a prison museum near Fort Leavenworth, Kan., Representative Nancy Boyda of Kansas jumped to promote her district’s heritage.
Leavenworth County, she boasted, had more prisons than any other county in America. Its inmates, she added, have included Machine Gun Kelly and the Birdman of Alcatraz (before he was sent to Alcatraz).
“The local residents are proud of their heritage, and rightly so,” Ms. Boyda told Mr. Flake during a debate on the House floor. The House voted 317 to 112 to keep her earmark.

It's amazing how Congress repeatedly throws around $100,000 as if it was their money.
No one even blinks an eye at $100k anymore and they *should*. Where does the defintion of government's responsibilities include building prison museums? The scary part is that this is far from the most ridiculous $100,000 being burned by our elected imbeciles.

But if they're so damn proud, they ought to be able to pay for this stupid museum themselves. We'd see how proud they really are of their prisons if they had to pony up the dough themselves, instead of making the whole of America pay for a MUSEUM DEDICATED TO PRISONS!!!!!
These people have no shame.
