Hannity's CPAC: The Girls Want Him & The Guys Want To Be Him

Image"Hillary says it takes a village to satisfy her man." That's just one of the great lines from Sean Hannity at CPAC. His electrifying speech this morning rallied the crowd -- some of whom were rather hung over. The fan boy screaming and applause had to have been hard on some of them, but Sean is a rock star. I half expected lace undergarments to be hurled at the stage.

His focus was Reagan, but not that we need another Reagan. It was not, like Rudy's speech, a meditation on Reagan's leadership. His was a reminder of Reagan's words and an encouragement to continue putting them to practice. You cannot argue with that. When we measure the candidates in 2008, Hannity encouraged us, weigh them against the values and messages and simple principles that Reagan not just spoke of, but put into practice.

Sean quoted from Reagan's 1975 CPAC speech in which Reagan reminded the crowd that the devastating Congressional losses in 1974 were not, as the media portrayed them, a rejection of Republicans or conservative values. Rather, it was a rejection of Republicans who abandoned their principles, as seen in the massive number of people who refused to even participate in that election. The parallels between what Reagan said in 1975 and this past year are pretty striking.

After Hannity's speech, he headed back to the green room and popped his head out the door into the hall. He was swarmed by lots of college students, female mostly, screaming his name and taking his picture. This guy knows his crowd and is really, really personable. It's nice to know that a guy who is larger than life on the airwaves is a very nice person in person.

Hannity by RBMN

One of the funniest things on Hannity's radio show is the sample reel from Sean's "Hate Hannity Hotline"--a seperate phone line just for hate-Hannity calls. Always fun to speculate what the bleeped words were originally, and what damp rock these people crawled out from to make such a call.

He has quite a bit of charisma when he's in front of people. His radio and TV shows would be much better in front of live audiences.

The point Hannity was making in his speech was that after the 1974 loses Reagan didn't back down. The conservative movement rebounded and thrived....but only when politicians had the courage to run on conservatice principles. The current republican field, Giuliani, McCain, Romney, seem to be giving conservative issues lip service only. And in Giuliani's case, he flatly rejects much of the conservative social agenda. The republicans cannot win this way.

he never lost his cheery, upbeat manner despite a few animal sounds from some beasts who sneaked in through the cracks.

Hannity Not Funny by Francis J. Beckwith

That is not funny at all. What Bill Clinton's adultery has to do with Hllary Clinton's qualifications for president I do not know. What Hannity said was a crass insult.

I can't imagine you thinking it funny if a Democrat made fun of President Bush's DIU past by saying, "Friends don't let Presidents drive drunk." Or if the same Democrat had said, "No wonder Cheney's daughter supports the president, she likes [fill in the blank]."

Look, I am no fan of Hillary. But Hannity's comments are not funny.

Just because it "doesn't rise to the level of impeachment" according to Dems, doesn't mean it's not funny.

Isn't Hannity married? by benthamite

Why the fixation with all of the attention that he was getting from female fans? Lace panties? I mean, is that the standard by which we measure conservative heroes? Who can bag the most chicks?

Hannity's speech by Mayhem

He went over by quite a bit, but absolutely no one cared. The room was electric and keyed in on every word that he said. Every 2 or 3 minutes, I was throwing my arms up in the air like it was a quasi-revival camp meeting. I half thought people might start swinging from the rafters with approval, but that would have been too much like the libs. : )

Hannity was amazing. Plain and simple. One of the top 2 or 3 speeches of the whole convention (One of which was clearly Wayne LaPierre's 2nd Amendment speech. You think putting caffeine in a 5 year old's blood stream is bad...just get LaPierre talking about gun rights in front of CPAC...the place was electric).
