Code Pink

Posted at 9:31pm on Jun. 19, 2008 "House passes Iraq war funds bill backed by Bush"

By Jeff Emanuel

Thanks to Reuters for the tasty headline, quoted above, that really rams home the fact that the Democrat-"led" House of Representatives has once again given President Bush pretty much exactly what he asked for on that pesky little war they inconveniently promised to end if elected in '06.

Well, I suppose that the "inconvenience" is more felt on the part of those friendly, gullible netroots who "ate up" the knowingly insincere promises of the Democrats they donated so much time, treasure, and typing to.

Voting results are here.

Guess those "blood-soaked" dollar bills Code Pink protesters planned to shower the voting Members with during tonight's polling didn't convince any of them overmuch. It's a shame; I hear they were dipped in the actual blood of the Iraqi children the witches of Code Pink keep fighting so hard to abandon to the mercy of terrorists in Iraq.

Well, maybe not. But would it honestly surprise anybody?

Posted at 6:48pm on Jun. 19, 2008 Witches from Code Pink to use time, money wisely Thursday night

By Jeff Emanuel

The fine upstanding ladies from Code Pink, recently seen dressing in their normal garb and acting as their normal selves (i.e., "casting spells of peace" on the USMC recruiting depot in Berkeley, CA), plan to do something during Thursday's House vote on Supplemental funding for Iraq that promises to be even more effective than the seances they held in Berkeley this Spring (I know, it just doesn't seem possible, does it?).

According to Roll Call ($), members of the communist organization "will throw 164 single-dollar bills covered in “blood” onto the House floor Thursday night as lawmakers vote to approve continued funding for the Iraq War."

A member of CODEPINK dressed in regular clothes - as opposed to the group's typical pink garb - will stand up in the balcony and throw $164 covered with red fingerprints onto the floor when Members begin to vote on the bill. Each dollar symbolizes a billion more dollars being spent in the war supplemental.

A Radical Obama Supporter? How Unusual!!

By absentee

Over at Politico, Jonathan Martin has a blog up about another Obama radical. This time, it's big time campaign bundler and Code Pink co-Founder Jodie Evans.

Evans is a notorious figure, notorious most recently for an inflammatory interview where she suggested that Osama bin Laden was basically being a reasonable chap defending his home:

Jodie Evans:… "We were attacked because we were in Saudi Arabia, that was the message of Osama, was that because we had our bases in the Middle East, he attacked the United States."

Paul A. Ibbetson: "Do you think that's a valid argument?"

Evans: "Sure. Why do we have bases in the Middle East? We totally violated the rights of that country. Why do we get to have bases in the Middle East?"

You can catch the audio here.

Code Pink is, of course, famous for their disruption of Congressional hearings, and for casting spells against Marine Recruiting Stations. Yes, that's right, spells.

There's more, read on ...

Posted at 5:10pm on May 9, 2008 Things You Already Knew (weekend kickoff open thread)

By absentee

Note by Jeff: Code Pink's web site actually had this posted on it:

“Friday, May 9th: Witches, Crones, Sirens: perform rituals of leaving, cast a spell of peace and love over the station, rendering nil the recruiting of our youth to become fodder for this occupation of Iraq.”

...and here is an actual photograph. Sexy, no?
****

In Berkeley, California this Friday, the ongoing saga of the Marine Corps recruiting station took a redundant turn, as members of Code Pink dressed in pointy hats and cast spells as part of their latest protest.

Fox News reports that Zanne Sam Joi of Bay Area Code Pink announced, "women are coming to cast spells and do rituals and impart wisdom to figure out how we're going to end war."

Armed with cauldrons, flowers, and other typical Code Pink paraphernalia, the witches spent the day hexing the Marines and attempting to overcome a salt barrier poured by counter protesters.

Move America Forward adds that "One of Code Pink’s mamas is Miriam Simos, a bisexual feminist witch living in Berkeley who goes by the name 'Starhawk.'" This is the latest in a series of increasingly absurd attacks on the Marine Corps by Code Pink and their Berkeley City Council familiars.

So just to recap, Code Pink were a bunch of witches today. In other news, some bears crapped in the woods.

Posted at 2:37pm on Apr. 17, 2008 Why? Some questions about Obama's terrorist and communist fan club

It's like the Joker and Lady Vic campaigning for Lex Luthor for President. At some point it raises red flags.

By Erick

We have well documented Barack Obama's Marxist underpinnings. His wife, his preacher, his mother, his father, his childhood mentor, and his neighbor Bill Ayers all have underlying beliefs in marxism. They share a disdain for capitalism, capital, and job providers. They are all swept up in the call for social change. And Obama has been right there with them.

We get glimpses every once in a while -- Obama rails against corporate special interests and denies taking money from them, while using them to raise his money and while actually getting money from them. Obama expresses his distain for religion as a crutch for humanity, echoing Marx's view that religion is an opiate for the masses. Obama decries the unfairness of the rich while expressing his connection to the proletariat, despite not being one of them.

There is a growing sense though, both among some Clinton supporters and those of us on the right, that we're at a tipping point and it is a point that requires the press to dig a bit deeper.

Obama's ties to terrorist Bill Ayers and his terrorist wife are often played down by the Obama campaign, but they are only disputed by Obama's chief strategist. In fact, Obama's present successful political career was started in Bill Ayers's living room.

“I can remember being one of a small group of people who came to Bill Ayers’ house to learn that Alice Palmer was stepping down from the senate and running for Congress,” said Dr. Quentin Young, a prominent Chicago physician and advocate for single-payer health care, of the informal gathering at the home of Ayers and his wife, Dohrn. “[Palmer] identified [Obama] as her successor.”

Then, of course, we have his dealings with Tony Rezko and Saddam loyalist Nadhmi Auchi, with whom Obama tries to play down his relationship. Nonetheless, Obama appears to have yet again lied to cover up his toasting of Nadhmi.

Equally disturbing is Obama's willingness to take money from Code Pink activists, that particularly repugnant group that harasses our military, assaults our elected officials, and accuses our heros of being war criminals. Obama has no problem with their money or their support. In fact, his rhetoric frequently appeals to this group and its supporters because it is so anti-American military, or rather anti-imperalist.

Maybe all these things combined send signals to those who live in that world. The signals are seemingly so strong that Obama has a terrorist fan club of sorts. We should review the members.

Posted at 6:40pm on Apr. 15, 2008 Code Pink Bundles for Barack Obama

By Ben Domenech

The co-founder of Code Pink is bundling for Barack Obama. The details include:

Jodie Evans, a Code Pink leader, gathered at least $50,000 from friends and associates and donated it to Obama’s presidential campaign, according to information compiled by the nonpartisan watchdog group, Public Citizen. Evans and her son, a student who lives at her Southern California address, each also gave the maximum individual allowable donation of $2,300 to Obama’s campaign.

No word on Barack's defense - you can't just put a flag pin on to make this one go away - for taking money from people even Comedy Central writers think are totally nuts.

Posted at 3:44pm on Feb. 1, 2008 Code Pink owns Berkeley, California. "The U.S. Marines must go!"

They start with a parking space.

By Mark Kilmer

For a moment's diversion, we'll contemplate the lovely ville of Berkeley, California. The city council of this quaint town for carriers of outmoded political though do not care for what the United States Marines do in keeping Moslem extremists and the battalions of the PRC off their turf, so this city council has voted to give away the parking space in front of the Marine's recruiting office to the paranormal, sociopathic Code Pink organization:

Having failed in recent years to impeach President Bush and stop the war in Afghanistan, members of the City Council approved a resolution that encourages people to nonviolently “impede, passively or actively,” the work of the recruiters.

To that end, the council awarded the group, Code Pink, exclusive use of the parking spot for four hours one afternoon each week, for the next six months, to stage its protests. “If you’re going to join the Marines, you’re going to join the Marines,” said Zanna Joi, an activist with Code Pink, which favors cotton-candy-colored garb and in-your-face tactics. “But you don’t have to join the Marines from our town.”

They're also looking for a legal method to eject the Marines from their strange city.

Oh, it's not going to happen, and America fights back against this kind of thing. Read On…

Posted at 4:06pm on Oct. 24, 2007 Rice Accosted at Capitol

The Inmates are Running the Asylum on the Hill

By Mark I

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice was approached as she entered a hearing room on Capitol Hill today by an anti-war Code Pink protester. The protester was allowed to get way to close to Rice for way too long. The female protester shouted "war criminal" at Secretary Rice as she was finally led away by the Secretary's security detail. Several Code Pink protesters, plainly identifiable in the gallery, were also removed by Capitol Hill Police after the Rice incident.

Democrats had better get a handle on these hearings protesters and reign in their Code Pink sympathizers before one of these incidents really gets out of hand.

Posted at 2:15pm on Oct. 23, 2007 Ron Paul does not belong in the race for the GOP nomination

By Mark Kilmer

Ron Paul played a valuable role in Congress. I do think so. He was never effective at limiting government, but that's not the role I saw him fill; rather, he was a minor gadfly to the statists, keeping in the vocabulary of Congress the small-l libertarian notions of a government limited to specific functions, non-confiscatory taxation, etc.

When Ron Paul entered the Presidential fray this year, contrary to what some of my other, perhaps more discerning RedState colleagues thought, I thought it was a neat idea, something which could only help push the other candidates in the direction of at least promising to restore and protect our God-given liberties. As a pro-life libertarian, the concept of Ron Paul, though hardly Presidential, would be a welcome voice.
