The Bicyclist cometh.  To Detroit.  Finally.  It's been, oh, a good long time since the man stood in front of the Detroit Economic Club, bad mouthed the Big 3 and insisted on massive new federal regulations that are expected to add thousands to the cost of every Michigan built automobile but early next week Barack Obama is finally coming back to the Motor City.

So is this progress or a fresh series of setbacks?  Depends on your perspective, I suppose.  Those of us who value fair play and folks keeping their jobs would certainly chalk these up as wins, but the libs?  Probably not so much.

It's got to be tough, watching one of your heroes implode before your very eyes, unwilling to recognize and act on the signs screaming for him to exit, stage left.  If it isn't a tawdry affair caught on text message it's a multiple count felony indictment, a recall attempt, requests from the hyper-liberal city council that the Democrat governor kick you out on your can and now this, maybe more frustrating than any but the Mayor's criminal indiscretions.

The MSM has just discovered what we've known for months now here in the real world.  The way the Democrats are behaving in Michigan lately is A) not so good and B) could cost them at the polls in November.  For Pete's sake, a recent Rasmussen poll put Republican John McCain ahead of both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama here in the Wolverine State, a State that hasn't gone red since 1988.  That's 20 years.  That's longer than a good portion of Right Michigan readers have even been alive.

Notice how all of those sanctimonious comments and "gotcha" moments seem to have dried up over at the Michigan Democrat Party and their contingent in the press and new media?  All of a sudden ethics and clean living aren't the issues they were back when they were trumpeting the comparatively rare Republican scandal almost always in another state.

This is the sort of move that makes those naturally inclined to distrust the government even more convinced they've got something to hide.  While the elected, acting and sitting Mayor of the City of Detroit prepares to go to trial facing twelve counts including eight felony indictments that could land him in the clink for fifteen years, charges directly related to a cover-up by his administration, the good folks at city hall took cover-ups one step further this past weekend.

The family of dancer Tamara Greene, one Norman Yatooma, has retained council and is investigating her still unsolved murder.

There are a lot of unsolved murders in Detroit but this one is unique for one particular reason.  Greene was rumored to have been involved in a little scuffle with the Mayor's wife at a wild party at the Manoogian Mansion.  Rumors.  I don't know if they're true.  Frankly, I'd always assumed they weren't.  Attorney General Mike Cox investigated the supposed party and concluded himself that it never happened.

It's a big stretch for me to think that it not only did happen but there was a dancer, she did fight with the Mayor's wife and that that may have some connection as to why she wound up dead.

Another day in Michigan and another round of wretched headlines for Democrats locally. Which is good and bad. With folks like the Hip Hop Mayor down in the D all of the negative coverage comes back and bites us all in the backside. But when you’ve got Democrats tripping over themselves to batter eachother like we continue to see in the Presidential Primary race? Well that’s just plain a beautiful thing. It’s one thing when a member of the opposing party levels a charge but when one of your own people comes with both guns blazing? Look out.

And so the official Kwame Kilpatrick Resignation Watch begins.  Yesterday the Wayne County prosecutor courageously (two words... Bobby Ferguson) handed down a twelve count indictment against the Mayor of Detroit that included eight felony charges with decades worth of prison time hanging in the balance.  All but his most ardent supporters are calling for the man to step down and that includes the good folks in even the most leftist corners of the mainstream media.

Posted at 9:35am on Jan. 24, 2008 Why, exactly, can't Democrats behave?

By RightMichigan.com

Democrats behaving badly.  What's the deal?  So much for this being the new party of family values.  We've got another Clinton running for the White House, seriously threatening to return Bill to the residence it's taken six years to purify and now we come to find out that one of the nation's most prominent mayors may be every bit the philanderer.  The Detroit papers are all abuzz this morning with news of Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick's romantic trist with his chief of staff Christine Beatty.  But philandering isn't against the law (in most states).  What IS against the law is lying under oath and firing people because they might expose one libidinous rendezvous or another.
