July 1, 2008

MORNING UPDATE:

OBAMA WILL BE A DISASTER FOR AMERICA AND MICHIGAN...I'm worried about the economy, jobs, my savings, my house...Obama's "old new-deal" policies are nothing less than a disaster waiting to happen.  If you like what Jennifer Granholm has done to Michigan you'll love what Obama will do to America.

By Jeff Emanuel

Just for clarification, it appears that when Democrat Congressman Paul Kanjorski, of PA-11, says:

I shared the frustration of my constituents that the war in Iraq continued...I expressed my belief that some Democrats in 2006 overestimated the ability of a single house of Congress to end the war, particularly in the face of an intransigent President and Senate Republicans who are committed to continuing the war

...it actually means, "I'm going to vote for giving the President everything he wants and more in the next Iraq Supplemental I get the chance to vote on."

Thanks for the clarification, Congressman. It's appreciated, not least by your gullible netroot supporters, I'm sure.

The Obama Campaign is Unable to do Better Than Schoolyard Taunts in Response to the Exposure of its Subprime Hypocrisy

By Jeff Emanuel

Soren Dayton wrote yesterday about the sweetheart subprime deal the head of Barack Obama's veep search committee received from Countrywide (a mortgage company Obama himself has spoken vigorously against on the trail), and today about Penny Pritzker, Obama's Finance Chair and former chairwoman of a bank that failed so miserably (and so underhandedly) that she paid regulators $460 million to settle the RICO suit filed against her.

Today, the Obama campaign officially responded to John McCain's daring to mention the facts about these high-level Obama personnel.

And the response from the uniting (not dividing), post-partisan, post-racial, post-human candidate's camp? Effectively: "Nyah nyah nyah nyah NYAH nyah, I'm rubber you're glue, whatever you say bounces off ME and sticks to YOU!"

Actually, that would have been more mature than the actual "don't look at my black pot, just talk about how black his kettle is!" statement issued by campaign spokesman Tommy Vietor:

“It’s the height of hypocrisy for the McCain campaign to try and make this an issue when John Green, one of John McCain’s top advisors, lobbied for Ameriquest, which was one of the nation’s largest subprime lenders and a key player in the mortgage crisis. As President, Senator Obama will crack down on fraudulent lenders and bring real relief to Americans struggling in the grip of the housing crisis—the kind of change that works for the American people.”

Very mature. By the way, are you still employing Jim Johnson and Penny Pritzker?

Yes?

Thought so.

Just thought I'd ask again. You see, your "height of hypocrisy" diatribe (very mature, again) failed to address that altogether.

Not that we'd expect better from the Obama camp. After all, they're the post-campaign campaign (and Democrats, to boot); no rules apply to them!

Posted at 4:08pm on Mar. 6, 2008 BREAKING: Michigan Gov and LG busted by Feds for failure to pay taxes after passing largest tax hike in State history!!!

By RightMichigan.com

Cross-posted on Right Michigan at www.RightMichigan.com.

So after all that talk about the importance of new revenues the woman didn't even pay her own taxes?  Shocking details are emerging today that indicate Michigan's most prominent tax-hike advocates, Governor Jennifer Granholm and John Cherry, are in trouble with the federal government for, get this... refusing to pay their taxes!  The kind of trouble you don't get in for a minor offense.  The kind of trouble that only comes after repeated notifications from the federal government.

Posted at 4:46pm on Feb. 27, 2008 Historically, The Answer To That Has Been "Yes"

By Dan McLaughlin

Matt Yglesias, who appears to be ticked off at the questions posed to Obama about Louis Farrakhan's support:

Will John McCain be asked to specifically denounce each and every white supremacist leader in America who urges his followers to back McCain over Obama?

I'm not sure what cave Yglesias has been living in that he thinks the support of white racists, however obscure, would not be used against McCain even if he does disavow them. Certainly that tactic has been used against Republicans as long as I can remember.

By Repair Man Jack

It was easy for Al Gore to describe our national climate change emergency as our nation’s Thermopolyae. It was even easier, given that he was just three hours away from chilling out in his heated swimming pool, drinking something mixed in with Jim Beam. It’s different when Al does that. He buys lots of offsets.

Just how Spartan would the rest of us have to be to meet the standard Al Gore sets for Non-offset buying Americans? Representative Barton inquires.

Posted at 9:33am on Mar. 22, 2007 Gore Refuses to Reduce Energy Consumption to Average Family Level

By AmandaBCarpenter

Former Vice President and full-time environmental alarmist Al Gore was eager to tell members of Congress how they should use their legislative powers to change the way Americans live but refused to take a pledge to lower his own energy consumption to the levels equal or below the average American household.

He said his family would pay more for “clean energy” instead.

Yesterday, Gore testified to both the House Energy & Commerce Committee and the Senate Environment & Public Works Committee about the “true planetary emergency” of global warming that he said was a “challenge to the moral imagination.”

In his question and answer period Ranking Member of the Senate Environmental and Public Works Committee Sen. James Inhofe (R.-Okla.) asked Gore to take a pledge that said: “I pledge to consume no more energy for use in my residence than the average American household by March 21, 2008.”

Inhofe said by taking the pledge Gore must reduce his consumption, not merely pay money to “offset” his energy levels. He intoned that Gore should show support for families who could not afford offsets by reducing his energy level to the average families’ energy consumption level.

Posted at 2:44pm on Mar. 2, 2007 Al Gore buying much-hyped "carbon offsets" from HIMSELF!

Gore and energy, Kerry and SUVs, Soros and Halliburton...will you darn conservatives quit pointing out our hypocrisy! -sincerely, the Left

By Jeff Emanuel

Remember those highly publicized "carbon offsets" which AlGore is supposedly purchasing to counter his $2,000.000 per month utility bill (and his use of 20 times the amount of energy per year just in his own home that an average American uses)?

Well, it turns out that the person that AlGore is getting these "offsets" from is none other than...well, AlGore.

Specifically, Gore is apparently purchasing these "offsets" from a company, called Generation Investment Management, which he co-founded, and for which he serves as chairman.

Furthermore, it appears that GIM doesn't even sell carbon offsets to the public - it only provides them to its owner, who happily pays himself for them while continuing to consume 20 times the energy that a "normal" person does.

By the way, the NYT has an article expressing skepticism about "so-called carbon offsets" (which Ecotality nicely defines as "a payment someone makes to an environmentally friendly entity to compensate for personally using non-green energy") and their effectiveness, postulating than not only are most offsets "ineffectual," but that all these modern-day indulgences really are is "a way for the self-indulgent to continue polluting without making any changes to their habits."

If you read that as "it's a scam" too, then we're on the same page. Or, as Ecotality put it, "The words "snake oil" come to mind..."

Posted at 4:05pm on Mar. 1, 2007 Next up on the Liberal hypocrisy watch, guess who owns $62,600,000.00 worth of HALLIBURTON!!! stock?

By Jeff Emanuel

Yep: it's George Soros. I'm waiting to hear the spinmeisters come out of the woodwork once again to decry the audacity of conservatives for daring to point this out...

...and, of course, to explain it all away with a nice little spiel (a la the Goracle) about how Soros is really OK here because, you know, he purchases Halliburton-offsets to make up the difference.
