The Risk of a "Glamour Pick" for Office

By Jeff Emanuel

California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger (R? Yes, but apologetically) sat down with the L.A. Times yesterday and apologized -- deeply and from the bottom of his heart -- for being a Republican, citing "political inexperience" as his excuse for having espoused semiconservative ideals and principles during his first campaign and in the early years of his Governorship.

The man who rode into the Governor's mansion four years ago on a wave of dissatisfaction with former Governor Gray Davis and the budget crisis he wrought was, by all accounts, sober in his reflection on the last few years in office, telling Times writers and editors "that he now regrets a number of the policies he championed in his early days in office and acknowledges his own rhetoric was at times overheated and naive."

Now, after enough time as a member of the Establishment, the man who once championed himself as the antidote to the woes brought on California by that Establishment is showing the effects of a hard-earned lesson in politics and governance -- that it's easier to go along and to get along than it is to stick to principle and to fight for change -- and has accordingly dropped almost all of the conservative, change-centered, state-saving rhetoric and stated principle that inspired Californians to twice elect him to the state's highest office.

Please do read on.

Or shut up and do your job

By haystack

Dear Democrat-controlled Congress,

Put up or shut up. Get de-funding legislation to the floor immediately. No 'senses of Congress', no riders, no earmarks, no triangulation, and no ambivalence. Close my checkbook and end the war today...or shut your yaps and do what you are being paid to do-legislate.

Save our children, save our illegals, save our sick and our tired and our hungry...the weary ones too...save us from ourselves and stop wasting our time and our money on your stand-up comedy routines on the floor.

The President asked for 200 billion dollars, and some of you geniuses decided 50 was all he'd get, and at that he'd only get it alongside a commitment to bring the soldiers home in 30 days. Why give him 50, kids? Give him NONE.

That Einstein you have up there running MY house can't seem to differentiate between 10 years and never-ending, and that idiot from Pennsylvania STILL insists we need a plan knowing full well we already have one...insisting on waterboarding the American people until we are forced to submit to HIS instead. How could he NOT know we have a plan? After all, isn't it the same plan he keeps saying is a bad one?

How much more of this are we supposed to take? Really...how much?

That Mad Magazine look-alike freakshow running the Senate keeps blowing smoke up...err, umm...blustering and babbling nonsense about bad policies he and his minions repeatedly and routinely continue to sustain through failed Senate leadership and control, and NOW we have to listen to blasts from the past retreads telling everyone on the left that now is not the time to hedge and drift...when that is EXACTLY what they've been doing since we swore their sorry butts into office back in January.

Enough, kids...ENOUGH-our heads are exploding.

De-fund the war now. You can do it...c'mon, really. Ben, Alex, and George (along with 37 other old guys) signed that little rule book thingy back a few hundred years ago that SAID you could...go for it!

You keep telling us that the American people want this thing over...make it happen or shut up about it.

Respectfully,

Your weary and your sick-and-tired.
